I don't have many decks, but I'm starting to notice a cycle. I had my original deck for a few years before I even considered another one, and last year I bought 3 within a few weeks of each other. Now, it's been about a year, and I'm on my second week of waiting for the latest deck I ordered, and I know I'll definitely buy another one very soon (just need to decide). I don't dislike or feel less connected to my old decks.
Does anyone else notice they buy their new decks in cycles, or are most ATFers as-soon-as-I-get-the-cash buyers?

Weeellll.... I go in spurts. For a while, I was a very steady buyer, about a deck a week or so. Then, I don't know what happened, I just got on this spending spree... and I acquired a good many decks.
Then hubby saw my Visa bill.... well, needless to say, my spending has waned a bit. Until all these new decks come out. I still have quite a wish list. })
I don't know how you do it, having only one deck for years. I don't think I ever had just one deck. I bought one, and no sooner did I get it home, enjoy it for a bit, then I saw another deck that I just had to have. And on, and so on. But I admit, I'm not a collector in the true sense of the word. I am a confessed spend-a-holic. :) But at least I have something to show for all my money spent!
Blessings,
Karen

I did not buy a deck in almost a half year - and now I have just bought or ordered 8 decks, but all had been on my wish list for some time, apart from the Liber T which was love at first sight.
So yes, it does go in cycles: once I start buying, I think: why not buy the others on my wish list as well - they may become hard to find later on, or more expensive. Now I will probably not have so much interest for new decks, as I need time to get acquainted with my new precious ones (and most have not even arrived yet).
I'll try to go with another half year's cycle before I start buying again - then I would be on an average of plm. a deck per month - that isn't too bad, is it ?
Buying more now would be a waste, as I would not be able to give proper attention to the deck.

I seem to go in deck buying cycles too - I can go months and not buy a deck then can buy two or three in the same month. I've just bought the Estensi and the Liber T - both decks I hadn't really seen much of. I think really now I'm thinking in the mind of a collector, which I wasn't before. The mignon Universal tarot (LS) was a deck I'd wanted for a long time because of its size so I've just bought that one too.
I really don't want to buy anymore decks anytime soon - I have enough to concentrate on as it is but when you see a deck that appeals then its hard to resist - the deck that I'm having to resist now is the Via tarot and its all the more harder because it comes with a book. :)

I like...I buy! But I have not bought a deck since I bought The Tarot of Timeless Truth and the Tarot of Prague. Well...that means...since I received the last deck on Monday...(Fiendish laugh of the tarotholic)--Tao

OK, so I'm not so odd! Even so, I doubt I'll be a person who has tons of decks. I try to choose carefully so that one doesn't obsolete another or make another redundant. I guess if that happens it's time to check out the trade boards!

I do the same. I may not buy any for a year, then I buy several in a short period of time. Just depends on what I see & what I like. I find my taste has changed in decks over the years.
