This new thread is complementary to the thread titled "Going prices for various 'Out-of-Print' tarot decks":
http://www.tarotforum.net/showthread.php?s=&threadid=25680
There are a number of decks that you may see in the stores which are technically out-of-print and may not be republished for a long time (... remember the Hermetic Tarot deck ...). If you like one of these decks, get 'em while you still can do so at retail.
I'll start the thread off with some U.S. Games decks:- Kalevala Tarot
- Gareth Knight Tarot
- Terrestrial Tarot
- U.S. Games Tarot of Marseilles
(the one based on the 1701 Dodal) - This is the Carta Mundi Tarot of Marseilles that was sold by U.S. Games for the past couple of years. The one they show now on their website is an AG Muller 'Convos' Tarot of Marseilles ['convos' - not to be confused with 'conver' as in 1760 conver]
- Ukiyoe Tarot
- Large-size 'old stock' green-box Thoth -- the so-called 'icky-greeen cards'. This is because the 'new stock' large green-box now contains the same cards as in the large blue-box AG Muller Thoth.
To the extent that these decks are distributed or manufactured by companies other than U.S. Games, they may be available outside the U.S. and Canada.

I am pretty sure the The Buckland Romani Tarot and the Alchemical Tarot Robert M. Place & Rosemary Guiley are OOP

The Large Thoth is going out of print? Is this just the old icky cards, or is the new stock of "OK" cards still going to be printed? It doesnt pertain because I can purchase a Large AG Muller deck whenever, but seriously! What is the deal?

The Buckland Romani is OOP. The Tarot of the Orishas set has been dropped from the latest Llewellyn catalog, so it may also be OOP (although the book-only is still listed).
The Kalevala and Terrestrial Tarots were actually published by AGM, but distributed in North America by USG. The Kalevala is defintely OOP and out-of-stock at AGM; I haven't checked on the availability of the Terrestrial Tarot from AGM yet.
The USG Glow-in-the-Dark Tarot is currently OOP now. Too bad; those are funky little cards. :)
The USG "green box" Thoth is still in print, according to the latest USG catalog (released last month). In fact, it's labelled "Top Seller." However, the USG catalog has *not* included the large AGM so-called "Swiss" edition of the Thoth for some time... although it was in stock at the USG warehouses a few months ago nonetheless.
The AGM edition of the Royal Fez Moroccan tarot is now definitely confirmed OOP. AGM has also dropped the "Golden Dragon Tarot" from its catalog (although USG never picked that title up for North American distribution anyway).
The Alchemical Tarot has actually been OOP for quite a while now. Ditto the Gareth Knight.
But, oh, the list goes on... :D

The Halloween Tarot seems very hard to find. Is it out of print?

The Buckland-Romani out of print. It is such a wonderful deck. I have seen the Halloween Tarot listed several places. I never read the details since I wasn't interested in it.--Tao

According to our previous "going prices for out of print decks" thread (I think it was that one) the Halloween is out of print.
Shame, it's really cute, and good for clear simple readings, and for kids.
The Buckland is out of print, but still sitting on shevles in some Borders bookstores. I know of one in particular. And still avail. on eBay.

In my initial post, the deck I was speaking of as being OOP are the 'old stock' green-box US Games Thoth deck which contained the so-called icky-green cards. On the other hand, the 'new stock' green-box US Games Thoth deck - which is in print - contains the better coloured cards as in the large blue-box AG Muller Thoth deck.

Confirmation: the Halloween Tarot remains in print. The problem with the Halloween deck, in my experience, is that it is popular enough that USG runs out of stock with some frequency -- so, depending on ths timing, it can be periodically difficult for resellers to obtain because USG is in the process of reprinting it. We've had the Halloween Tarot on backorder several times in the past, waiting for a new "run" to be available. However, Rusty Neon is correct -- the Halloween remains in the USG catalog, and there's no indication that USG plans to drop it from their product line anytime soon.

I'm sure glad I didn't sell my Buckland. I almost did, thinking I could get another one if I decided I wanted it again. I'll be heading to Borders to get a spare.

I was disappointed to learn that the Magickal Tarot by Anthony Clark was OOP.
I don't know how long it's been OOP but the art is the sort of thing I like, particularly the text and titling on the cards. I would have bought it immediately if it had been in print.
It's such a shame.

Also OOP is the Aquarian -- and just when I sparked an interest for it, naturally! ;) It's available in several languages now, but the English version is gone.
Also OOP, but reappearing in October (supposedly) is the Nigel Jackson.

I'm not sure how news of the English edition of the Aquarian Tarot being OOP would have gotten started. It's still listed as available in the New USG catalog; I just reordered it.
The Nigel Jackson Tarot is definitely being re-released in October, only the name is being changed to The Medieval Enchantment Tarot.

Jeanette -- Amazon lists the deck as OOP. It's available as deck/book set, but not deck only there. Do you sell it as deck only?
Happy to hear about the Nigel Jackson return. :)

Yes, we have it as a deck only. In fact, according to the latest USG catalog, the title is marked as a "top seller."
(Don't even get me started on the accuracy of the publication information presented on Amazon...) ;)

Tarot Passages is reporting the Aquarian as being discontinued.
I sure hope not. It will make me feel old. That was my first deck and still much beloved.

All I can tell you is that USG accepted my reorder of the Aquarian Tarot when I presented in person at the INATs show in Denver two weeks ago. At that same time, they rejected my reorder of the Ukiyoe and Glow-in-the-Dark Tarots with the report that those two decks were now OOP. I can't say with 100% certainty that USG was wrong to represent the Aquarian as being in-print at that time, but the fact that the Aquarian deck remains listed in the June catalog and the other two do not tends to make me want to classify reports of the Aquarian as being OOP under the heading of "seriously unconfirmed rumors."
If Tarot Passages also gets its publication information from Amazon, that might explain the reporting discrepency.

I agree; Amazon is great for a lot of things, but I have found the publication status to be incorrect on more than one occasion. I also got the latest US Games catalog in the mail, and the Aquarian is listed in English, German, Italian, and Spanish.

I came to the conclusion long ago that Amazon confuses "OOP" with "out of stock". I've seen decks many times listed as OOP (when I know they are not) and a month or two later they're back in stock again. When in doubt, I go directly to the company's (US Games, etc.) website.

The Glow-In-The-Dark (22 cards) is on sale in my hometown for around €20 (slightly more in dollars, around $25 I think, but not certain).
So if anyone really wants one, PM me and I can arrange to pick you up a copy.

You could probably, with patience, get them for
that price on eBay.

Thank you SongDeva,
Maybe I should go back and pick them up.
I don't really like the deck myself but for trade purposes it might be worth the investment.

As far as I've been able to determine, the Deva Trot is still in print. It just hasn't had a direct North American distributor since USG stopped carrying Piatnik products.

Its out of print and I just saw a used copy on auction at Ebay. Bids around $75

Tavaglione's Enoil Gavat tarot with 14 page English language booklet is available at Wooden Horse Books in the U.S.
Since the Ukiyoe is going out of print (or only available around $24 at used sites such as abebooks.com), I believe the U.S. Games and Angel Playing Card Company's joint Marseilles deck might be going out of print as well. I also picked this up via email ordering from Wooden Horse Books.

Cerulean Mari
