Odyssey Tarot

I am a huge fan of collage decks! So, when I happened to see mention of the Odyssey deck on another list, I emailed the artist. She created this deck as her own personal odyssey of learning the Tarot (as a student of Diane Wilkes).

The artist, Jean Hutter, is making only 30 of these handmade decks for collectors, and I just got mine last week! Each backing is unique, making our decks truly one of a kind (mine is rose with gold flecks). It is durably laminated and comes with a nice title card. It reminds me of other collage decks, especially the Blue Rose (another of my favorites). Jean's vision adds some delicious twists to card meanings. 2 examples: In the 4 of Cups, a woman gazes longinly at her reflection in the mirror, her own vanity preventing her from seeing the cup being offered. And in the 7 of Pentacles, a farmer gazes over his blooming fields, while a woman looks at the hourglass she holds -- is it time to harvest, or should he wait a bit longer?

Diane has a wonderful review at http://www.tarotpassages.com/odyssey.htm

(According to the review, the 30 are spoken for, but Jean is maintaining a waiting list.) Take a look, it's just great! And it reads like a dream.

Thanks for showing us this deck, Asher. It really has some original takes - I love the 4 of cups. It must be a delight to explore such an original deck.
I am not really prepared to pay that much for a deck, but for a collector looking for something rare - unique even ! - they are not really expensive. They will probably only go up in value (not that you will ever want to part with it).

Also like what she does with the Devil and the mask. Truely a creative mind.

I can hardly wait for mine to arrive. Between the Odyssey and the Patchwork Tarot, these are exciting times!

You can always email her to be put on the waiting list. I think the first 30 are spoken for but you never know when someone might change their minds :)
