Look at this--apparently 6 copies of a majors only deck. The seller doesn't know much about tarot, I think, but I wonder what he's selling.

Weird. So ... many ... questions...

At least it isn't "haunted."

I don't know what deck this is, but I have seen this majors only deck a few times on E-Bay and always being sold in multiple quantities.

Its a deck labeled "Caring Psychic Family Tarot" and there's an 800 # hotline printed on the backs. It's sold on eBay quite often...normally can be found VERY inexpensive - I think there's a real glut of them out there. I think they are also available in a 78 card deck. The colors are very bright and the images are quite cartoony. There are some sample pics at Tarot Garden:

The distributors tried to sell this deck on ebay in lots of more than 300 sets of 22 majors in each packing crate. I think it was an unsuccessful telephone psychic line that originally had them and perhaps they went bankrupt?

So the ebay buyer originally had to buy "lots" of decks in the hundreds that may have been unsuccessful or unpopular to most ebay buyers....I don't know, but I think there are some sellers having trouble giving them away as an additional 'gift'.
I received one as a freebie and gave it to a friend who didn't mind them.

I was thinking Imagemaker, that you are right: the original buyer of a crate of 22 majors might have not known much about tarot and is trying to recoup their loss by selling lots of six.

That is just a guess, though. Maybe someone else is making lots of money selling them as a rare 22 major tarot set.

xviiirkna was right, it is on Tarot Garden at http://www.tarotgarden.com/database/dbsearchengine.php?view_title=family . I looked at this... my first reaction was "ick". It didn't get any better from there.

The irony of crates of unwanted decks with the sellers' "tarot decks are hard to find" -- don't you just love hopeful con men? :D

And the title?! Yuck--funny how fake psychic marketing is SO clueless!

I'm one of those strange Tarot deck collectors who actually likes this deck. I don't own it yet, but I like it.

You see, I have a penchant for decks that come free with promo offers, or in magazines. Over here in the UK there have been quite a few Tarot decks (Majors only mostly) given away free with women's/teenage magazines, and I make it a point to scour the magazine each month just in case...

So this would make an excellent comparison to those decks.

Notice how the seller's eBay store is called "Actual Things"?! LOL!

That does look like an interesting deck, though. I wonder if there really is a 78 card version. I'd like one, if so.

I have this 'deck'. I got it from a friend of mine who had a few of them. She gave it to me to practise with tarot. I don't like all the images but there are a few that are quite nice. It's very simple, not too big on the symbolism-part.

TygrEyes  05 Sep 2004
I've seen them before also. I don't know what the dimensions are, but I thought if they equaled playing card size, it'd be interesting to combine them with a deck of playing cards.

Yeah, and pretty stupid, to boot. Even the most basic Majors deck could reasonably go for $5.00 each. Somebody could be making a killing.

An old thread about The Caring Psychic Family Tarot (where it first appeared for discussion):

I like it very much & wish it were a full deck. Works well for me as a set of Majors.

Also like the idea of using it with regular playing cards.
