I am very new to Tarot- been studying for about 3 months, so please put my comments in context:-
The deck is BEAUTIFUL! Very thought provoking images.
Very classy (IMHO) with the black borders.
It feels very contemporary and "deep" at the same time.
"Build quality" not brilliant- the corners are starting to mark very slightly, after just the first night of shuffling. Also one or two burrs on the cards. Not the end of the world though- I don't mind cards settling into that used look.
The book that comes with doesn't look that good- but I have only really flicked through it, so I have to have a proper read.
I bought it mainly for the art work and for contemplation / study. At the moment I feel little "connection" between any of the cards- each one seems to stand alone and not part of a larger story.
Maybe I should have waited until I am more experienced with "conventional" Tarot before buying, but I'm still pleased with the purchase.
Take care,
Regards,
Ian

Do remain pleased Ian.
Even with decks we love at first sight it takes a while to get to know them, to make all the connections and to find all the paths.
There is nothing, I repeat Nothing, wrong with purchasing a deck that catches our eye and gets our minds working with glee over the lovely imagery.
And even if you don't warm up to the book, keep using the images. For personal development if nothing else.
I firmly believe they've come to you for a reason, and that reason will make itself visible in time.
And remember, We learn Nothing of ourselves if we never challenge our minds..

I'm still fairly new to tarot too, Ian. I bought this deck because of the wonderful art, but I absolutely love it!
I commented recently that there just aren't any bad cards in this deck! They're all wonderful. It was pointed out to me that this wasn't the case. We're told that it's all a matter of our perception.
There is a thread in the Readings forum, for a daily draw from this deck. Have a look - it's really showing me a bit about this deck! (and about me.)

I have this deck and love it, too. Yesterday browsing at the bookstore I found there is a second book available that contains additional commentary; I've read through only a bit of it, but I like what I've read so far. It expands on the information contained in the book that comes with the deck. It's called Tarot In The Spirit Of Zen: The Game of Life, by Osho.

Cool! Congratulations on your new deck Ian! :)
I got my osho zen a few weeks ago from the lovely Sulis :D As soon as I opened it I thought "this deck I won't study for now, I will just use it intuitively" and I am very pleased with the readings I have done with it. I guess I am using it as an Oracle deck rather than a real Tarot deck for now.
Its also been great for friends that know nothing about Tarot. Last week I read for a friend with my new Marseille deck, then I asked her if she would read for me. She said she would give it a go but was nervous as she had never done it before. I gave her the osho zen to read from, et voila! She did an amazing reading and she had never even held a deck before!

This deck was a huge disappointment for me.
After reading about so many positive experiences that people have with this deck, and even looking at the sample cards, I had hoped to be enriched by it.
I guess it was not the time and place for me to make a connection with it. The cards seem disjointed and mismatched to me--all over the place in terms of artistic quality and style. It honestly reminded me of a collaborative deck created by many artists, even though that is not the case.
I guess I should do something about it. I'm resenting it's presence on my bookshelf. I've misplaced the receipt, but I think I will take it back to the bookshop for credit. I feel OK about doing that because I feel that there was such a wall between me and this deck that I took no energy away from it, and left no personal mark upon it.

This is one of my favorites.
It's lovely.
And the book is actually quite good, I find.

CharmingPixie, I'm so glad you're getting on well with the O Z. I just couldn't connect with it - it just wasn't 'earthy' enough for me, it had a much more 'airy' feel. I know that that sounds really crazy but it's just the best way to describe the feeling I got.
Couldn't get my head around the earth element cards being represented by rainbows either. Rainbows seem to be air, water and fire not earth. Now Morgan Greer, even though it's a RWS clone just feels earthy - I think it's the colours :)
It's strange isn't it, the things that put us off decks?
Love
Sulis xx

Couldn't get my head around the earth element cards being represented by rainbows either. Rainbows seem to be air, water and fire not earth.
The choice of Rainbows to represent earth did bother me at first. I finally decided that they were refering to the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, and now I'm ok with it. :)
But, seriously, a rainbow is, as you say, a mixture of the other three suits (fire, water and air) since it is the reflection/refraction of light through particles of water in the air. It is sort of a physical manifestation of the other three.
----------------------
After posting it occured to me that there may be something in Osho's writings that would explain the use of rainbows to represent earth. I did a little research and found this quote by Osho
Osho says, “It is a rainbow bridge between the known and the unknown, the visible and the invisible, the gross and subtle. One part of it is rooted in the world, in the earth; the other part reaches to the highest sky. You cannot even see the other part, the other end of the ladder.”
from an article in http://www.oshoworld.com/onlinemag/sept2004/htm/infocus.asp
And while wandering around that site I found a repository of english translations of Osho's writings!

it was a deck i wanted for the longest. and i just got it a few weeks ago. i love it. i actully do like it more than i thought i would. i have not read with it and i just flipped threw the book so i m not the best judge.
but i will say that the basic thing that makes me buy a deck is what it looks like. there is nothing wrong with that! if u like the way a deck looks then get it! i have never owned a RW cause i dont like the way it looks. i have learned tarot on more non trad decks and i honestly read a bit differently with different decks. but the main thing that i use to read is m y reaction to the images and how it makes me feel in relation to the ?

Hello to everyone that has posted in this thread.
I'm glad to see Rabble, that you are inviting everyone to the Your Reading section, where we do our Osho Zen one card daily draws. It's a place where we are all learning together.
I have to say, that for me, the thing that appealed the most about the Osho Zen deck is how disimilar it was to any other Tarot deck that I've seen. It feels like an Oracle deck to me and I believe that is why I immediately connected to it.
Each to their own, though.
