Stairs of Gold - Tavaglione

Is there anyone willing to delve into the Stairs of Gold by Tavaglione with me?

I know that others here have this deck but it is very rarely mentioned and in my view deserves some attention. Thanks to Ya Ya Boot Ya Ya (beter known as Yaboot) my interest was peaked after his research into the Enoil Gavat Tarot - also by Tavaglione. I see that there are similarities (and differences) in these two decks.

The LWB with this deck is a must to read (sorry Umbrae) because it does provide a key to what the symbols are in the Majors (and there are many). What I am finding puzzling is why? Why Sanskrit? Why Hebrew? Why Celestial symbols (and what are they?).

Please don't be put off the deck because of the complexity of it, because the pictures in the midde of the symbols are quite similar to RWS, but the minors are pips. Not pips as in the Marseilles sense but the Italian sense. Nevertheless they are intricately and delicately drawn and this is a beautiful deck.

This is not a thread just about the symbols on the deck, but about the deck itself. So if you have anything you want to say about the pictures, pips, courts, borders or whatever.... please feel free. I am learning this deck and want (and need!) any insight that you have.

Hey Moonbow

'Ya Ya Boot Ya Ya!!'

I am very happy to discuss the deck with you, even though I don't have it. I can discuss it alongside the Enoil Gavat, since they both come from Tavaglione, if you are up for that. If you are, we could each look at our decks and compare the what is similar and what is different. Like you, I am still wanting to be active in the Thoth Daily Draws. Maybe we could work our daily cards there and then pop over here to discuss the equivalent from the Tavaglione decks. What do you think? I am really enjoying the Thoth, but don't want the EG to be left on the shelf as there feels. to me, a strong connection with it - even if I cannot understand why.

I have it!
Let me dig it out when I get home from work. I remember I talked with Laurel (I think it was) ages ago about working with this deck. So far I only really looked at it and skimmed the LWB.
It is a beautiful deck and you are right, it does deserve some attention.

That's great!

Welcome aboard Yaboot and Jema.

Yaboot has come up with a plan of action (he is the ideas person!) and I will keep you posted on how we are going to get started with the deck.

Anyone else care to join the fun?

We decided to put our heads together on both decks and Yaboot has started a thread here:

http://www.tarotforum.net/showthread.php?s=&threadid=31772

What we will do is draw a daily card and talk about it in any way that suits the individual. There is no obligation to draw every day, I think it has to be relaxed so that none of us start to find it a chore.

So jema, if you are game, Yaboot has posted his card, if you feel like joining in.
