Just wondering if someone could explain the difference between the Universal Waite deck and the original Rider Waite deck.
Also which of the two would you recommend?.

The Pamela Colman Smith Tarot of 1909 is known by
many names, and has been published in many styles.
Joan Bunning has a good overview of the selections:

Be sure and spend some time visiting her website.
She has great card descriptions, especially Courts.

I absolutely love the Mary Hanson Roberts recolouring,
since it is so invitingly pleasant, but you will find that it's
practically irresistable not to own the regular version too,
and that's the one in the yellow box with typeset titles.
The deck called the 'original' is mostly a collector's item,
and is very different. I'm still not sure what to make of it.
PS: I do not recommend A.E.Waite's stuffy Pictorial Key.
It's generally known around here I credit Pam very highly.
