Great idea, Songdeva!
here's a few I have. Apparently I'm obsessed with them and just didn't know it until now...
Arnell Ando's Hero's Journey and Transformational Tarot
Flying Hearts
Kimberly Fordham's Toscano Tarot
I also would love to know if the Margarete Petersen contains collage elements. Some of the paintings look like they might contain photos (especially the mother and father of cups), and also fabric. I wonder how we could find out?

PS Oh damn, you already had the Flying Hearts listed. But do you OWN it? I do! Nnnnaaaah nyyyahhh!
Oh, I have the Hero's Journey but not the Transformational, sadly. And I haven't yet unpacked the Toscano, so I only THINK I have it.

Mine is photo-collage. It's not available yet, and only the majors are done, and will hopefully be available as an LE soonish :)
It will be called The Garden Path - an antipodean tarot.

Oh hi Rabble, I just mentioned your deck too! I like "The Garden Path' title by the way.

The Fantastical Tarot by Natalie Hertz uses fabric or marbelized paper for many of the costumes. Don't know if this qualifies it as collage.

I have the photograph of a lunar moth from a magazine that Alexandra Genetti used on the Jumbledance. I love moths.
If I could justify spending $1,000 on a card deck to the spouse, the Goose is Out is one I would love to work with. I don't want to collect it, I want to use it endlessly for inspiration until it crumbles and its atoms become part of my hands.
Collectors, gotta love 'em.
The decks I listed, as collage, are not all in my collection, which is listed on page 2 of the 'collection' thread. I didn't realize that the Goose is out deck was so pricey. It's out of my range for now.

Sorry for the assumption Gerbear.

The Goose is Out is on my unattainable wish-list, too. But Jeannette recently quoted me a mere $400 as the going price when it can be found at all. Doesn't that cheer you up?

I'm delirious with joy! :) I've only spent over $200 once, in obtaining 500+ decks, but for a select few, I could go higher.

I don't think the Der-Jen China Tarot is considered collage. I have the deck and I am sure they are paintings and not collage. So maybe you better take that one of the list.
Also, I noticed the Soul Mandala Tarot is on there twice.. with it's Polish name and the normal name.
And I am not sure this one qualified, but I think the Andrea Picini is also collage?

I'm not sure if I should throw the cat among the pigeons ;-) and say that in some ways we wouldn't class the Baroque Bohemian Cats as a straightforward collage deck. Well, it's collage in the way that some films nowadays are (live characters superimposed on backgrounds) but I don't quite know what you'd call that. Maybe we need another category?
Anyway, it's not a major point - more for discussion!

Karen, I took a guess on teh BBC tarot, so I'm happy to remove it, especially with your expert input.
As for Der Jen, anyone else care to weigh in?
I've merged the Soul Mandala and the Mandala, let me know if that's right.

Some might call it photocollage, but what about calling it Storyboard?
Animation studios or claymation, there are all sorts of storyboard artistic approaches and it requires intense labour and exacting placement of figures and continuity--that sort of thing. You need an overall design you just don't slap it together. You need a story, theme, characterization.
I've always respected those old Disney storyboard studios--a lot of experience and talent and imagination needed for such work.
The BBCT would fit that description I would think.

Seems nobody else really is joining in about the Der-Jen. I just finished writing a review about the deck (which I hope Tarot Passages will run in the near future), so I spend quite some time with the deck. I am pretty sure those are paintings.
Btw, I can add two another Taiwanese collage decks to your list: the Magic Tarot and the King of Energy Tarot.
The first is out of print now and the second only just published. I don't really know much about the author though.

The last post reminded me that I have a Taiwanese deck called 'The Golden Age of Tarot', which is collage.

True, it's not that I don't trust you. I had just hoped you and the person who originally posted that deck could compare notes. I'm not familliar with it myself.
Thanks for your input, I'll add the two Taiwanese ones.

Do you know the name of the author of the Magic Tarot?

Edited to add - whoops! Sorry, didn't realise you were talking about a Taiwanese deck of the same name - but I'll leave this post here in case it's of interest to others in any case.

Yes, it's Aleksey Kluev. Oddly enough, we are now in touch with Kluev's partner (who I think did much of the computer artwork on the Magic Tarot) and he says that the deck is now out of print, but that they do expect to reprint as soon as possible.
If you have other questions I am happy to try to put them - he doesn't speak much English but we can email in Russian.

Oh thanks! That's a nice term.
I don't want to get too picky about terminology, but I think what I mean is that while Tarot of Prague is definitely Photocollage, even though many (most) of the elements are substantially redrawn (the Moon is, for example, made up of three distinct statues, and her flowers are from yet another - all had to be redrawn to fit together of course), I think BBCats is more like film CGI in some respects. The models are built up in quite a classic CGI way. The result looks far more "real" than classic collage - for better or worse.
Interestingly, we now do full storyboards for our books - so again, the technique has some things in common with film.
But like I say, I'm making the point more for interest than because I really think we have to worry too much about cat-egories (sorry, sorry, couldn't resist!)

Indeed we are! In fact, the Kluev is already listed.
Thanks for the info though. :)

I just checked and found the link to the Der-Jen posted by jlbvt. He or she also posted the Gaian Tarot. I don't know how Joanna would see her deck. I personally don't classify it as collage, even though she first made a collage and then painted it. But that is my personal choice.
And again about the Der-Jen, I have to admit, they do look like real people on the cards, especially if you only see scans. Chinese art often does that.

Oops, sorry about the confusion. I forgot about the Magic Tarot by Kluev there for a second. But yeah, this deck is also called the Magic Tarot. It is a majors only though and according to my source the author's name is Maurice. Unfortunally my Chinese is too poor to actually read the box that came with the deck.

Ok, I think we are all caught up, based on what everybody's contributed so far.
Thanks all! I find I'm very into collage decks lately. Maybe I'm heading towards creating my own someday. :)

Please add the Marita Liulia Tarot to the ever-growing list. It's a small (good news for those who like small decks, 2 1/2 by 3 3/4) photo collage deck with well done photography. I wish the cards were larger, to see more of the details though. But the cards are not cluttered with images, rather they are to the point.
The artist's website is www.maritliuliatarot.com, and the deck is available through the Tarot Garden.
