THEY ARE WONDERFUL!!!!
I just received The Guardian Tarot by the very talented Jeff Minkevics. I encourage everyone who wants a Beautiful and detailed Tarot deck to get this one. The images on these cards are unlike anything I have seen before, quite Lovely. A dark and mysterious deck I look forward to using soon. You can get these decks directly from the Artist himself, go to ebay and he usually has about 5 decks on there at a time. They are going fast. If anyone has these allready and has used them please do tell how you liked them. I am just so excited to use them, and I cant say enough good things about them, but if I don't stop myself now I will end up babbling, oops I allready am:)
Blessed Be

I recently acquired this deck, and I really do like the dark imagery....it reminds me a little bit of the Templar Tarot, with its winged, fallen-angel beings. I also like the way the artist incorporated the elements of the four suits into the borders....very striking and unique.
I have yet to do a reading with these cards, but I look forward to getting to know them better. One caveat: the cardstock is a bit on the thin side, so I will need to shuffle them with care....but the overall quality of the deck (given that it is self-published and fairly inexpensive) is quite good. There is even a black, drawstring bag included with it....

I didn't like this deck. A few of the images had a different twist but most seemed to be just very simplified versions of RWS with wings on the central figure. I found the artwork very blurry, and lacking in detail. Something seemed to be amiss with the printing as well.

Just did my first reading with this deck....my daily card for today, not a full reading. But it was interesting....studying the image (The Fool) and writing about it.
If anyone is interested, you can read my post here:

I just received this deck. Haven't read with it, just looked through it once.
I really like it. I wouldn't call it dark, just kind of melancholy. I find it deeply satisfying. I can't wait to try reading with it. It would be perfect for a rainy day!

I've just placed an order for this today, so obviously can't give first-hand impressions yet ! But I am attracted to the rather dark melancholy feel of the deck and have a "hunch" it might provide inspiration for writing (depends on the writing, obviously !) :)
There was a query-I'm sorry, I forget who from-about whether it could be ordered from somewhere that was not eBay. The answer is YES. I clicked onto Tarot Passages, where there is a good review of this deck, and got onto the artist's website that way. He accepts Paypal, among other things.

I don't know how I missed this deck. But I did - completely. That is until I saw FantasyWorld's thread about trading it. Well that got me looking and I read your review Zagone - very informative and thought provoking by the way!! Anyway you helped me decide that I might want it. FantasyWorld and I couldn't get a trade worked out so I decided to go ahead and order it straight from Jeff M.'s site.
I just ordered it tonight so of course I don't have it in hand yet. What's funny is I don't like the pictures at all, but my guides (possibly guardians LOL) are telling me (pretty firmly I might add) that I have to get this deck. ??? So it's going to be interesting to see what happens when I do get it.
Again I have to say I really, really liked your review Zagone!! It was very honest and helped me make up my mind to go for it. :)

Faunabay -- Thanks for your kind words! I was excited and driven to write a review. Hopefully now the cards measure up!
Have you got them yet and are they good to your purposes?
Thanks,
Zagone

Zagone,
Yes, I have them now. And I find they're not as dark as I first thought. I agree with Lee in they're more melancholy than dark and scary as I imaged.
I've also realized since getting this deck that I've been ignoring my "dark side" and I believe I'm supposed to use these cards for that reason. So my guides are happy and so am I as a matter of fact. :)
I actually like this deck! And surprise, surprise my Mom loves it!! She pointed out to me that even though the figures are in dark, sort of scary, settings that, for the most part, the faces are all calm and peaceful. She said to her, the cards show that you can be in scary situations and still be calm and peaceful inside! WOW!!! Now was that a lesson for me or what!! :D

I've been looking at this deck, too, wondering whether or not to get it. I don't like the vampire decks but the art on this one strikes a different chord. I also think it would be good for shadow work.
Hey, if your mom likes it, it must be good, huh? :D ;)
