My anniversary gift was this and I couldn't wait!
1. The art sources are explained in the appendix
2. Every card is discussed
3. No gilt-edging, but the cards are as large as the original ones with 'gilded' edges.
4. History and context with Dali and some very very good discussion of using the cards.
5. The book has color pictures and explanation, large reproductions and reader-oriented notes. While Rachel Pollack's book is lovely in experimental musings and I have bought the Dali Tarot book and deck at discount at different times, this packaged set in English seems worthwhile as an anniversary gift!
I'll try to find online links to add--but mine came through Tarotgarden.com as their 'secret' sale in the bottom of their homepage.

I was keen on getting this too. I almost bid on the poker deck with the pictures at eBay.
Can you only get it at Tarot Garden? I love ordering from Jeannette, but I get stuck at Canada Customs with paying the $2 or less GST tax and then an additional $5 administrative fee, so I find that discouraging. With the money order fee and this extra customs money it pushes the price up by $10 or so.
(p.s. Mari, I nearly bid on a Hiroshige deck but I wasn't going to be around when the auction ended so couldn't--RATS.)
When I first looked at the Dali it seemed silly to me, but I like odd decks with unconventional art, so it's growing on me.

1. Jubilee edition, around $50 as a set with German or English:
www.meaus.com/dali-tarot-cards.htm
Here are the ISBN numbers and information of the Jubilee edition choices:
Book only: ISBN 3-89875-650-5
(includes color scans and commentary of all cards and is 192 pages. Author: Johannes Fiebig. Originally published in German under the title of Dali Tarot 2003 by Koenigsfurt Verlag, D-24796 Krummwisch, Germany)
Cards only: ISBN 3-89875-646-7
No gilding on the side, with white borders and lamination on gold ink--if you have allergies to gold inks, the white borders might help you.
Book and card set that I have:
ISBN 3-89875-648-3
There's a certificate as well...mine is 718 if that makes a difference.
2. My choice was to buy from Tarotgarden.com in the set, so I could get the nongilded cards and softcover book to use as a reading copy.
The Tarot Garden
3. All cards (same in Universal Dali, Dali Jubilee Edition, Rachel Pollack's book:)
For about $25 or so you can get all the scans, tarot software and other decks...here's scans of all the cards of the Dali Tarot:
www.tarot.com/about-tarot/decks/browsedecks.php?newdeck=6
4. The older gilded deck has a small booklet with the 22 majors discussed briefly Universal Dali by Juan Larch and Salvador Dali published by US Games Systems, Inc. ISBN 0880790903.
I've searched Amazon.com and abebooks.com separately over the years to buy Rachel Pollack's commentary in the book and finally got a used deck without a box...the book I bought for about $20.00 and I remember paying about $60 or less for the gilded deck...

5. Rachel Pollack's book has some commentary, all color scans:
# Publisher: Lectorum Pubns Inc (J) (June 1, 1985)
# ISBN: 848598420X
and review link of both Universal Dali deck and Rachel Pollack's book.

You can tell I am a bit of a fan about this deck...
I hope this is helpful

Unfortunately I am still making a list of what cards have a small text that says "Further information requested" for art sources of Dali's cards. I'll write a review that corrects or adds information to this thread.
Sorry that I cannot edit the original reply that lists my number one reason--the description of all the cards and the fact that many of the cards have sources listed in the appendix was a very exciting one for me. I thought all the cards had appendix notes with art sources--but unlike Tarot de Paris (JPT 2002) and Golden Tarot (Kat Black, 2004), not all art sources are listed for the collages.
Hope this is helpful and I am sorry if people began ordering the deck with the idea ALL the art sources are explained. All the cards are explained in a reading point of view and I found the appendix to be a wonderful resource...but my apologies to art-minded people believing every resource Dali used was noted.
Regards,
Cerulean
