Oh, happy day! My Glastonbury arrived yesterday evening. Unfortunately, I was busy with three very loud daughters all night, and my mood just wasn't right to enjoy it. Today has been a little hectic, too, but I plan to give this deck serious attention tomorrow. Anyone want to share their experiences with the Glastonbury for my benefit?
cheers,
Stephanie

I'm in the same boat as yourself, Etain. Which is to say that I have it (and have had it for about 2 weeks now), but haven't had a chance to do more than glance through it. I love the look of it - it's a very warm, endearing sort of deck isn't it? I'm really looking forward to working with it. The book looks really well written too. I'll post some more if/when I have anything more specific to say. Looking forward to hearing how you get on with it too :)

I have this deck too and have used it a lot. It mainly follows the RWS meanings but has overall a positive outlook. The book is very well written.
In this deck I love the minors more than the majors. The minors depict situations from everyday life and the people look very real. The majors depict historical/mythical stories. There is a lot to be gotten from this deck - I am sure you will enjoy it.

I have been looking at this deck again during the last week as I'm doing a comparison with 4 other decks and with each card I compare I like the Glastonbury take on it very much. When I settle down from skipping from one deck to another (which is what has been happening lately) I think this will be a very good reading deck for me. It is very positive and beautifully thought out.
In my comparison the take on many of the cards is similar to the Greenwood.
It's a lovely deck to use.

I've had the Glastonbury for a couple of years - it's a lovely deck.
I don't use it for reading, I use it for spell work. I find that the cards have a very positive slant to them - that and the use of colour makes them really good for focusing on a magical goal. Like Moonbow I think the Glastonbury's take on many cards brings in a whole new level of meaning - I love the 4 of Pentacles and the way it focuses on integrity.
I don't even mind the keywords although the fact that there are keywords is probably one of the reasons I don't read with this deck.
Some of my favorite cards come from this deck. Particular favorites are:
Maid of Vesicas
The Tower (16).
The High Priestess (2)
The Empress (3)
All of the Chalices Suit
6 and 9 of Swords
I could go on.
I just wish the card stock didn't have that wierd sticky / slimy feel to it.
Here's a link to all of the cards http://www.wordswork.net/avalon/minor.htm

Sulis xx

Wow! Even the input on this deck is gentle. That's the feeling I've come away with so far with the Glastonbury. (Did a bit of reading with it last night.) The colors are so vibrant and the images so evocative that it surprised me... the overall spirit of gentleness in this deck. From the little I've seen so far, I agree with the assessment that it takes a very positive slant to traditional meanings, but I haven't probed much deeper than that.
Sulis mentioned some of her favorite cards. I don't know the deck well enough to say I have favorites yet, but I was pleasantly surprised by my own reaction to the 5 of vesicas last night. I have a really good feeling about this deck!
Thanks, everyone, for your thoughts and experiences.
cheers,
Stephanie

Hi Etain, I have had this deck for a while. Recently amyel did a live reading for me using the deck and I was very struck with it. The accompanying book is good, too.

Funny I had been thinking about buying this deck for a while now, not that I ever completely got it out of my mind.
It just seems that every time I decide to order it, some other deck or something else comes up. I like the card images, and I am aware that many readers commented about how good a reading the accompanying book is.
I have not considered aquiring it for spell work though. But who knows?

Spellwork...great idea for this deck.
I really like The Tower-The Tor with the phoenix, I'm addicted to Phoenix:)
I haven't used this deck in years, I'll have to get it out and use it more!

Well, pulling this deck back out to look at I realized it's stll numbered and I've never used it. Looking through it, I probably won't use it as I'm not familiar with the people or symbols they've used at all.
