Hots for the Druidcraft

Thread originally posted on the Aeclectic Tarot Forum on 18 Nov 2004, and now archived in the Forum Library.

I'm noticing lots of americans with this deck already, though it's not released here yet. I don't think I can wait longer!!
Any tips as to how/where to get a copy at best price and shipping at this point? I really can't spend like $60+ on a deck at this point.Any information deeply appreciated :)

SongDeva  18 Nov 2004
Amazon claims to be shipping it out in Dec.
I got mine a few months ago by chance on abebooks (thank you angels).

Rhiannon  18 Nov 2004
I ordered mine from here: http://www.connections-publishing.com
a few days ago. It hasn't arrived yet, but the price was only like 19 pounds including shipping, which works out to $37.14. Still seems like alot for a deck, but much better than waiting until January or spening that much PLUS shipping on other sites.

Sulis  18 Nov 2004
I was going to offer to get one for you and post it but I think the link Rhiannon has given you would be the cheapest option. I think I payed more than that for it from the OBOD bookshop so you'll be getting a good deal.
It's a deck book set and both the deck and the book are very good quality so I don't think £20 is that expensive.

It's so gorgeous anyway - you won't regret ordering it :)

Love

Cerulean  18 Nov 2004
The price translates to about 38-41.00 U.S. dollars for both book and deck.

I like the set and the shipment was within two weeks.

I hope you enjoy the set and there's a study group by the time you get it!

Majecot  18 Nov 2004
I got mine from here:OBOD

Same price... I did not want to wait either. I am actually thinking about buying another set, I love this one so much.

TygrEyes  18 Nov 2004
I pre-ordered my second set today at Amazon.com! :o)

BlueLotus  18 Nov 2004
I had also ordered mine from OBOD, a couple of days ago, and expect to receive it soon.

Although I initially hesitated to place my order for this deck because I thought I had a similar deck ( Faery Wicca ), before I realized that the DC is different, and would probably be easier to read with.

I paid 23.99 Sterling Pounds ( ~ 45 $ ), including recorded shipment for this order.

I think I would be glad to join in with any study group for this deck, but as I am not wiccan, and do not really know much about druids, other than what I had read online, I know I am more than willing to learn.

magpie9  19 Nov 2004
Thanks, guys--you are all wonderfully helpfull. I have to sleep on it...and try to talk myself fully into or out of it! I also have the Hots for the Runic Tarot, available at that same site......

.....so many decks, so little money, weep, moan, drool, dither........It's definatly time to go down to the Coffee House and do some readings to support my habit :D

darwinia  19 Nov 2004
Isn't that funny, I just picked up my Druid Animal Oracle two days ago to reread the book and enter the lovely artwork again. There are lots of figures and gods from the Tarocchi Celtici--I keep forgetting I have this Druid book to refer to and compare to the Celtici.

I didn't realize there was a Druidcraft, but the artwork and atmosphere of the deck looks wonderful. Will Worthington is a very fine artist and this one he did with egg tempera so it has a soft feel to the colours. I love both egg tempera and casein, they look so different compared to the acrylic look we have become used to.

It's too bad the publisher felt they couldn't promote two decks at once and deferred the North American release of this. I feel that is so short-sighted with Christmas coming up.

WolfSpirit  19 Nov 2004
magpie~ why don't you just move to Europe ;) ?

I simply couldn't wait so I ordered my copy from the OBOD website a few days ago. I also ordered a copy for a Christmas present. You should get it magpie! From the sounds of it, you won't regret it. C'mon, you know you want to... ;)

I can't wait to get this deck and be able to see all the cards. I have to say that the Lovers card is one of the hottest I've ever seen...

Yes, Yes! You Are Right!! I want it so badly that I am out to the coffeehouse tonite, in full Gypsy (well, maybe a little modified...) to make the money to buy the deck.

Wish me luck, All !!

Good luck Magpie :)

May the cash come pouring in - it's for a very good cause after all :)

Mine arrived today! I thought that was very fast for shipping overseas. It's gorgeous, as expected and I am really looking forward to getting to know it better. For anyone hesitant about ordering from the link I posted, everything went well for me. :)

Asher  20 Nov 2004
Glad to hear that Connections came through, Rhiannon! I also ordered from them, since I could not get the OBOD site to process my payment. (Went through like a breeze from Connections, got a quick email confirmation).

I also am drooling over the Druidcraft and look forward to its arrival in a week or so!

Hi all

When you get your decks... you make like to join the Druidcraft Tarot Study Group in the General forum. TygrEyes has already started a thread on the Princess of Wands which is here:

http://www.tarotforum.net/showthread.php?t=33642

There will be scans of the cards if you want to input something before your deck arrives (or you want a sneaky look at the cards) :)

BlueLotus  28 Nov 2004
I have just received my deck/book set of the DruidCraft, and I can't be happier.

It is just too bad that I can't study it or join the study group right away, since I am down with the worst flu.

But I do intend to reflect on the cards that have been drawn for the study group, and others as soon as I feel better.

Majecot  28 Nov 2004
((Feebie))

I am so sorry you are not feeling well... perhaps some bed rest and light reading (Druidcraft book) will speed your recovery ;)

Two cards are currently posted, join us when you can.
Those who do not have the deck yet feel free to join in!!!

Keslynn  30 Nov 2004
I got mine, I got mine! *bounce, bounce, bounce*

I've only been able to look through it once but it's breathtaking. I'm so happy I didn't wait and bought it now. I can't wait to be able to study it more and to use it for a reading. Yay!

:) Kes

Sulis  30 Nov 2004
Yay :D :D :D

Look forward to seeing you over in the study groups forum :D

Thanks very much for posting this link, Rhiannon, as I had tried the OBOD site and they are saying that it is now out of stock until January 2005!

I got to have a quick look through a copy of this deck at our tarot coffee morning last Saturday - and have not been able to stop thinking about it.

I have just ordered a copy from Connections (as this will be my Xmas present from my hubby once I let him know ;) ) - so hopefully it will arrive in Australia in time to wrap it up and put it under the tree! This online shopping is great - I have never bought anything until yesterday and now tonight so now have 2 tarot things coming from the UK (the other one being Major Tom's Tarot Lovers' Calendar - another Xmas present from my Mum). So that is all my shopping done for myself now ;)

I shall look forward to catching up with you in all in the study group threads in the New Year.

Cheers

I do that too! I love getting little knick-knacky things for everyone, and if I didn't get them for me too, I'd be the only one without any! :)

magpie9  05 Dec 2004
I just couldn't stand it any more.
the Devil Made Me Do It?
Well, what the hell, I finially did it! I ordered the Druidcraft from connections. I was going to hold out for amazon (at $16.+) but they say they won't be shipping 'til March 31, and that's just tooooo looong.

So I wrestled my Scotts ancestry to the ground, "But Lassie, 19.99 GBP, when, if ye could just wait a bit, it's less than half..!" And won for once. "This is it," I panted, "birthday, Yule, Christmas,Channakuh New Years, Candlemas, Ground Hog Day, the whole lot.......maybe something else in like, June, really, this is alll I want."

The thing that tipped me over my penny-pinching edge was the Druidcraft Study group..especially the pix.

That is absolutely classic, Magpie, I love it!!

But it does seem to be a problem many of us have :)

Asher  09 Dec 2004
Mine came today from Connections (ordered on November 30, not bad)and it's incredible!!!

{But when it rains, it pours...along with the DruidCraft, I also got the new Caroline Smith Runic Tarot, and the stunning Ironwing deck!! It was so hard to decide which to open first, but I digress...}

The soft artwork of the Druid Craft is what drew me to this deck, along with the Druid theme. And the cards are large, too, 3 1/2 by 5 1/2, allowing the viewer to see the images quite clearly.

The book seems well done, too.

I'm off to read/play for the evening! What a great tarot day!

YES This one looks GORGEOUS! Gotta wait till it hits the states though, the ol' Tarot budget is already pretty well spent!

magpie9  16 Dec 2004

I had ordered the druidcraft from Connections a week or so ago--yeaterday I got a notice that the sec pay place is refunding my money. No explanation at all. I emailed them and Connections, in hopes that I get at least some sort of explanination out of somebody.

Back to Square One.

.....sigh................

CreativeFire  16 Dec 2004
Oh Magpie9, that is disappointing news for you! I hope you can get it sorted out. Maybe they are out of stock or something?

Well I feel a bit guilty saying now that - MINE HAS ARRIVED! :D

I ordered it from Connections about 2 weeks ago and it arrived safely in Australia today. I have been really good and wrapped it up straight away and put it under the christmas tree so that I won't be tempted to open it until Summer Solstice (as that is when we are doing our gift giving) })

Alta  16 Dec 2004
Sorry to hear that Magpie9. You will get it obviously, especially since we know it is being reprinted for distribution in North America in April. I hope you find a place before that. It is a truly lovely deck with (I find) uplifting imagery.

TygrEyes  16 Dec 2004
Bummer - I'm sorry to hear that Magpie! It's my understanding from a note at the OBOD book store that they've run out of the first printing & are waiting for the second printing. I guess you'll have to order again when it's available, or you could go to Amazon & pre-order (discounted price!). It's SO worth the wait!

Majecot  16 Dec 2004
Wow - that is a shame. I am considering a second deck (for the first time) but I wanted it to be first printing :(.. I also worry about any changes they might make for a US printing. It seems like there is too much sensorship in artwork for decks coming here.

WolfSpirit  16 Dec 2004
Amazon.co.uk has it listed as "ships within 24 hours".
Now we know their info is not always correct - but I got mine through amazon, all went well then :)
So maybe that's another option.

Asher  17 Dec 2004
I am also disheartened to hear that the first printing has sold out. I want to get a second copy of this beautiful deck, as the card stock is thinner than I would like, and I want to use this one! (And have used it. I took it to my Tarot Circle last week and everyone oohed and aahed over it. Now, I'll have to go back and tell them that it's unavailable...sigh).

This is the first deck I have gotten in a long time that I love _every_ card in the deck! We've all had the expereince of getting a great deck, except for a couple of cards that are not quite right. For me, not with this deck!

So, I will need to be extra careful using it until the American edition is out.

Asher

magpie9  17 Dec 2004
I'm enough over my extreme disapointment that I can talk about it now, folks. I've followed all the leads you gave me, and they've come to nothing.
What I think I'll do is order it from amazon, com in the USA- they predict it about April first. it's a long wait, (CHIT! CHIT! CHIT!) but to kinda - sorta make up for it, it costs a lot less.

Meinwhile, I am comforting myself with chocolate, music, and renewed emmersian in my other decks.

It's not like tis is the only deck in the known universe. Of course it isn't.

*magpie wanders off with a trail of tiny desolate sobs behind her....wimper*

Alta  17 Dec 2004
Last night I was lying in my hotel room (business trip). I had taken the Druidcraft with me, since I had not really had the time to study the images. I did that, admiring them. Then, I went to sleep, and kept dreaming about the cards for a couple of hours. I wake up often usually, and every time I awoke I realized I was still dreaming about the cards!

Alta  17 Dec 2004
Majecot wrote:

That's a good point. I did look at the cards carefully last night, and indeed it could be possible that a heavy handed censor could step in and alter the cards. I hope not, for everyone's sake. Including mine in case I decide to get a second copy.

What is it hat you thikn would be edited out? I haven't seen the deck yet so I'm curious.

I was wondering about that, too.

Shade wrote:

The hanged man is completely naked and anatomically correct ;)
Also the Lovers look very hot together...
These are the cards most likely to be edited.

souljourney  18 Dec 2004
Is it possible to order this deck direct for the creators or whoever? And do we in America Have to wait for the American version, or can we just go ahead and order it from overseas.
I certainly wouldn't want a "censored" version.
From what I've seen this deck is great. It's definately on my evergrowing wishlist.
SJ

WolfSpirit  18 Dec 2004
It is possible to order the deck from the English amazon site (amazon.co.uk) or directly from the bookshop at OBOD: http://druidry.org/

However, the first print is completely sold out. This is what the OBOD website says:
Quote:
OUT OF STOCK - UNTIL EARLY JANUARY 2005 - We have found out from the publishers that they have completely sold out of the initial print run of the DruidCraft Tarot deck. The demand has been incredible, so hopefully they will produce a lot more next time. If you do order this item before then, we will charge your card, and deliver the Tarot deck at the end of January 2005.

So this will be the same as the first edition. We don't know if the American version will be censored, but as it takes them so long to bring the deck on the American market - that is very well possible.

Alta  18 Dec 2004
You could at one point, and I and many others did, but apparently from the posts above, it is sold out at source and we may have to wait for the American print run.

Oops, I didn't see Wolfspirit's post.

Double edited: there is no real reason to think the cards will be edited, I wouldn't worry. Honestly, just speculation on our part.

Majecot  18 Dec 2004
It will be interesting to see how that plays out here. At least I know someone over ocean who can get me the hook up if that happens to be the case. ;)

Marion funny you mention dreaming about the cards, it is exactly what I was doing last night as well ( I would have thought I would have been dreaming about Nemo since that was the last thing I was doing beore bed.) Due to the holiday mad rush I have not spent as much time with them as I would like, I am a bit surprised the images are so prominent in my mind right now.

((magpie)) I am sad for you.. Try to oder again from OBOD after Jan .

Emily  18 Dec 2004
I'm being drawn to this deck - I've only seen a couple of the cards but I was able to read them.

I was wondering what the deck colouring on the back is like.

I've not been able to find any links to the backs of the deck. I know they are large but still I'm finding these cards very appealing and have already got them in my basket at Amazon UK.

Alta  18 Dec 2004
The backs are very plain. A rich brown with a thin gold border, thin line with a few leaves. Reversible.

Sulis  18 Dec 2004
The backs are plain brown with a fine gold line as the border. There is a very small celtic knot in the middle in gold and small knots which look a little like fleur de lys in each corner. Very classy - understated. I really like the backs - I've trimmed mine so the gold border is at the very edge of the card - still good though.

I think you should get them Emily - but then I would say that. I haven't looked at my other cards (even my Morgan Greer) since I got DruidCraft.

Thanks Sulis and Marion - I think I should get them too lol - I haven't really been pulled this hard towards a deck since my Morgan Greer. Just been checking out the Lady - a card I'm always drawn to.

What features on the Moon card? Not been able to find that one.

Majecot  18 Dec 2004
Emily I attached a couple of scans to show you of the Moon and the backs. The cards have a thin white border around them which I took of for the scan.

Emily  18 Dec 2004
Hi Majecot,

Thanks for the scans - that Moon is stunning.

Emily  18 Dec 2004
OK - The devil made me do it :D (from another thread)

I've just gone and ordered the Druidcraft on the basis of the few cards I've seen. I wasn't going to order anymore decks for a long while but it was on special offer at Amazon UK and its 24 hours delivery - I couldn't resist. :)

The colours and expressions used on the cards I've seen are really appealing - I can't wait to get this deck in my hands. :)

Sulis  18 Dec 2004
It's lovely Emily, you won't regret it :) I remember you saying that one of the reasons why you love the Morgan Greer is because the faces are so well drawn - well the Druidcraft is just like that too. The court cards in this deck actually look as though they are related; it makes them very easy to read.

Magpie, why don't you order it from Amazon.co.uk ? They have it for £13.99 - that's about $26 - it's a saving of £6 from the OBOD shop - wouldn't work out too expensive even with international shipping.

Sulis, thank you, today I used the link you provided and ordered at Amazon, UK. It came out to $40. US, including the shipping, in case anyone else is considering doing it that way.

Last night, as I lay not sleeping I ordered it at Amazon, USA. I am now in the throes of trying to cancel the USA order-($20. US, for comparison) (it has a ship date of March 31) and somethings wonky with the system, so I've been unsuccesful, so far. I emailed the help people, so it should come out ok.

But I can't help wondering if all my "calling" of this deck to me may result in multiple copies, whether I want them or not. !

I do have the sense that this may well be one of the few decks I love enough to get a bck-up copy of.

I'm really happy about this--I do think, as fulgour put it, that "third times the charm!" :D

I guess I'm too late in posting this but, I was going to say you'll probably want two copies anyway! I pre-ordered my second copy from Amazon back in mid-November. :o)

Hi Magpie,

Your deck will probably be in the mail so if all goes well you hopefully will get it by the 29th Dec. I ordered mine yesterday too and its already been posted so I'm hoping tomorrow or Tuesday for me.

good luck :)

Laelyan  20 Dec 2004
So here I am ... walking through the QBD bookstore here in Brisbane, and I come across this new Tarot deck - the Druidcraft tarot. Hmm, I thought. I haven't seen this one before. I wonder if it a nice deck or not.

Christmas is four days away. And unfortunately, I have already made my investments for this holiday season and my bank account only has about $10 left in it. And alas, the deck costs $44AUD.

Decisions decisions.... ;)

Majecot  21 Dec 2004

Hi all

Have just been to the Goddess and the Green Man shop in Glastonbury. They have 5 copies left. (at £19.99).

Now, just in case you can't get down there - they do a mail order as well. The web link is;

I got mine today from there - it's fantastic! Wonderful imagary.

Hope this helps

wow, Laelyn, definitely get them to hold it for you or something. I did not think it was going to be available in Australia until next year - and for $44AUD that's pretty good as it cost me about $50 AUD+ to get my copy sent from the UK - but I just couldn't wait and my hubby had to get me something for Christmas! :D

Now QBD bookstore you say ... hmm, being that they are a big chain store here I will have to check out my local one now for a spare copy, as I have a feeling that this is a deck that is going to get a lot of use. ;)

So spoil yourself Laelyn - it is a beautiful deck!

Emily  22 Dec 2004
I'm still waiting for my deck to reach me. I know it got posted so it must be caught up with all the Christmas parcels. I'm finding that patience isn't one of my virtues lol But apart from grabbing the next postal delivery van I see and demanding to know where my Druidcraft is - there isn't alot I can do about it. :)

Shade  23 Dec 2004
Amazon.co.uk says not yet published yet... does this mean they are awaiting the second printing or just a glitch and I houldn't trust them?

magpie9  23 Dec 2004
I ordered from Amazon UK a few days ago, and I gpt a message that they had posted the deck 2 days ago---and they said to expect delivery by 29 dec., so maybe they have run out of stock and are having to wait for the next press run scheduled at the end of Jan?

Shade  23 Dec 2004
Ok I did it, I bit the bullet and ordered the deck from Connections.

Edited to add: GAH! I just now re-read the part where Magpie says Connections is out! Damn... oh well, it's only a matter of time.

Shade  24 Dec 2004
It is just so very very very strange that I can debate over and over again for weeks on end about whether or not I should take up studying the Crowley Thoth deck and if so which version and which books etc., then I spend a morning looking at a few scans on here and place an overseas order for a deck I had previously assumed I would never own.

Shade  24 Dec 2004
Ok, sorry to b over-posting but i need some help. I checked over at amazon uk again and I am having trouble distinguishing between two decks. What is the difference between this:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/1859061443/aeclectictaro-21/

and this:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/0312315023/aeclectictaro-21/

it looks like the first one is the deck and the secondis the corresponding book. Is that it? If so things might not be so dire as I had thought

thanks for any help

Shade

magpie9  24 Dec 2004
WoW~ that is really weird. They've got the same item number, but the prices are different, as are the mailing times.........I don't know what to make of it.
Because the numbers are the same, I think it is the same thing, the set, not the seperate book and deck.

Maybe someone from the UK who deals with them all the time can offer advice or explanation, or at least tea and cookies?

I think this is one of amazon's famous faulty listings...
as far as I know, the book and deck are only sold together. I think they listed the same item twice, once with the name "Druidcraft tarot" and the other with the full name "Druidcraft tarot: use the magic etc...".

I think the one that says "dispatched within 3 to 5 weeks" will be the new edition, if they had them ready now they would ship immediately.
Can't make anything of the other one...it all does not make much sense to me, sorry.

Emily  25 Dec 2004
I got my deck yesterday morning (24th) - I'd given up hope of seeing it before Christmas and was in the midst of Christmas chaos when the door went and there was my parcel. :)

Its been hectic here so all I've managed to do so far is to check the cards to make sure they are all there. The scans look lovely, the deck itself is gorgeous. There is so much life in them, the Aces are the prettiest I have ever seen - the Cup Ace is my favourite. The cards are a little large for my small hands but I'll shuffle them end over end like I do my large Thoth. The deck has a really nice feeling about it - I'm very pleased with it and now just want the time to get to know it. :)

Hi Shade,

Yes I noticed that one version wasn't pubished yet but I thought it was the new printing so I ordered the one they had got in stock. I don't know why Amazon have done this either but the £13.99 version is still the deck and book set. Hope this helps. :) Just noticed the waiting time has gone up - just over a week ago it was just 24 hours. I'm really glad I managed to get my order in.

While looking around in the bookstore I suddenly noticed a beautiful box. I picked it up and saw it was a set, a book and tarot cards. It was the DruidCraft tarot. And above all, it was in Dutch! Many tarot sets are in English only, so I really liked the fact it was in my mother tongue. I feel more connected to cards if I don't have to translate things on it. I just had to buy it, the pictures depict on the box were so attractive.

I just looked at the cards and they are even prettier than the pictures of them. The colours are so rich! I'm a bit scared of the size, they are a lot bigger than my regular deck. I'm not sure if I'm going to be able to handle them.

CreativeFire  28 Dec 2004
Well today proved it! I need to get out more. Decided to go for a drive down to our town centre today as I have not been down there for a while since my favourite tarot shop closed about a month ago.

Not many shops open as it is public holiday here, but the little book exchange / nick-nack shop was open so thought I would go through and have a browse.

Firstly I noticed that they are now starting to carry a few tarot decks, so of course wandered over for a closer look and there IT is - the beautiful Druidcraft box sitting on the shelf. So Laelyan's spotting in Brisbane, Australia of this deck is confirmed. It is definitely here. :D

Well I do feel a bit silly now getting mine sent all the way from the UK ;) but I guess that will just make it that bit more special and I absolutely love it. Usually in Aus we have to wait before the releases in Europe / US before we see new decks down under - I know I waited months for my Gilded when it came out.

So there you go any Aussie Druidcraft admirers out there - there seem to be plenty around. :)

Yes, i'm in Australia, and I saw this deck in my bookstore.... That has lead me to try and find some prints of it here. It has pretty much convinced me to get it, even though it is on the expensive side for me ($44). But it is so beautiful and everyone's enthusiasm... Now I have to have it! I got a bit of money for christmas... so why not!

I lashed out and bought this deck. It is more beautiful than I could have imagined! I feel like it is too special to use at the moment.

goddesscarlie  28 Dec 2004
Oh no! I just found out that I have two 3 of pentacles and no king of pentacles! Do you think I would be able to take it back to the book store and exchange it??

CreativeFire  29 Dec 2004
It is beautiful isn't it :)

yes, goddesscarlie, take it back to where you bought it and ask them to exchange it for another one. Might be an idea to check the new deck while you are still in the store to make sure. They should either exchange it or give you a refund if you have a receipt, then you could buy it from another store if they don't have another copy of it where you bought it.

Good luck and hope you get it sorted out soon.

Shade  29 Dec 2004
Yes exchange it, it is no loss to them they will be sending it back to their distributor nyway. If they give you any kind of trouble at all you can contact thepublisher and usually they will send you the missing card. Llewellyn has done this for me before.

Anyway while you are waiting consioder the message you have received by getting the extra card, I think it is significant.

goddesscarlie  30 Dec 2004
I went back to the store today and swapped it with no hassles. What a relief!

The card that I had two of was the three of pentacles. I'm still new at the tarot, but I think perhaps it was trying to tell me that the druid craft tarot are great cards to use to increase my skills.

Emily  31 Dec 2004
Hi goddesscarlie,

Glad you managed to get your deck sorted out. I had mine come the day before Christmas and that was all I managed to do - sort them out to make sure they were all there - luckily they were.

I've been using this deck all week (just about) and it just gets better and better. With all the holly and mistletoe, it seems like the perfect Christmas/New Year pressie :)

Hooray Magpies' got her deck.

It is the mother of all Celtic / Pagan decks too isn't it?

I haven't read any cards for the last couple of weeks (I have phases like that) but I still have to take my DruidCraft out and just look through it every day.

Definately my favorite deck :D

I'm so pleased you like it Magpie although there never was really any doubt :)

Love

An interesting development. I noticed on my credit card statement that Connections just charged me for the deck. While on one hand I am pleased to be getting the deck I am rather annoyed as I had told Connections in an email to cancel my order since the deck was out of stock with them. I'm happy it is on the way but i would never do business with them again. It's a good thing I didn't order on amazon UK.

Shade  30 Jan 2005
Question for anyon ewho ordered from Connections livig in the United States. How long did it take for your deck to arrive. I asued I'd be waiting for a while but was curious to see wen others got it. My card was charged on the 6th I believe.

Cerulean  31 Jan 2005
I believe that I emailed the book service after 10 days and it came within 15 during an October-November period.

I also seem to remember having ordered from England, an abebooks bookseller, in 2004 between two mailing holidays in the U.S. (Veteran's Day and Thanksgiving), and it took closer to three weeks.

Regards,

Cerulean

Asher  31 Jan 2005
If I remember correctly, my deck arrived exactly 2 weeks after getting my confirmation email from Connections.

I am still impatiently awaiting the USA release. I pre-ordered them on amazon.com, but April seems so far from now! I am absolutely adoring the scans and conversations on the Druidcraft and it is getting me through these arduous months. Please keep the convos going or I won't have anything to keep me patient! I have to admit that I'm not even capable of looking at any other deck since I first discovered the Druidcraft. I miss having an extremely loved tarot companion and hope this deck fills the void.

jota23  04 Feb 2005
I gave in and just bought the deck from the UK. :D Wish me luck that I don't go insane before I receive it!

Majecot  04 Feb 2005
April is a long way away!!! You will be glad you have them when they arrive. Try not to bite your nails for the two weeks it seems to be taking.

jota23  04 Feb 2005
I sure hope so! I just gave my working deck (World Spirit Tarot) away yesterday! A neophyte was EXTREMELY drawn to them and since I haven't been able to bring myself to pull out the deck since I discovered the Druidcraft, I was more than happy to give it to someone who would appreciate them. Besides, it was just the excuse I needed to buy the Druidcraft deck: up until yesterday, I had a deck if I needed to give a reading, but now that I've given it away, I'm deckless (not really, I've got my collection, but I only use one working deck at a time), and since no tarot reader can possibly go deckless, I just HAD to buy the Druidcraft. (nudge nudge, wink wink) Now, my next dilemma. Do I buy two decks so I can cut the borders off one of the decks?

Skydancer  04 Feb 2005
*winking at 'deckless'* ;)

Yes, the end of the first week of April IS a long way off. I pre-ordered it too - and am so looking forward to getting it. I, too, have enjoyed the scans - at least I can dream about the actual cards rather than just imagining them!

later then ~
*S*

Namaste  07 Feb 2005
I confess that I can't wait to purchase this deck, and am debating whether to order it from the UK, or to wait until April in the US.

Anyone have any idea when Amazon.ca (Canada) might have it? I'm not sure if they receive access to their merchandise after Amazon in the US or at the same time. :)

Namaste  07 Feb 2005
Anyone ordered this from Superbookdeals? Appraisal?

Thanks. :)

WolfSpirit  09 Feb 2005
Just went to the OBOD website (druidry.org) and saw they had just revamped the site. The homepage now has a scan of the Druidcraft tarot. If you refresh you can see different cards, but there are also cards of the Druid Animal Oracle mixed in.
A chance to see more cards for those who don't have the deck yet !

Shade  09 Feb 2005
Hi all, I need to amend my harsh criticisms of Connections. Apprently they cancelled my order when the deck wasn't in stock, but ddn't mention it to me. So I takeit back, they did not charge me without my permission.

What to do what to do... the notion of waiting till April back in December was quite unbearable.. but now that we are here in Februry... and I would get the deck with a 33% discount for buying it from my store, and not have to pay shipping. Damn, I'm probably gonna wait.

Thanks, WolfSpirit. I had a look at the page, and, of course, it only makes me want it even more.

I think, though, that I will wait another month or so. The Amazon discount certainly makes a big difference from ordering from England. :)

Namaste  16 Mar 2005
For all those who are not in England and have been pining for the Druid Craft (like I have), the Tarot Garden has received this beautiful deck. I don't know about Amazon.com or amazon.ca, but TG has been most accommodating and the shipping to Canada is very reasonable.

I just checked at chapters.ca (Canada) and it seem the deck is now available there also.

:)

Wow - that is a shame. I am considering a second deck (for the first time) but I wanted it to be first printing :(.. I also worry about any changes they might make for a US printing. It seems like there is too much sensorship in artwork for decks coming here.

No need to worry! I received my 2nd deck (this one from Amazon) & all the nakedness is intact.

Cindy_Odo  16 Mar 2005
I have some Druidcraft Tarot on my website $39.99 for the set, shipping from the midwest. It is gorgeous!

Ah well that is good to hear. I thought for sure some do-gooder would paint a loin cloth on the poor fellow. (breasts seem to be ok in this country)

WalesWoman  17 Mar 2005
I'm sold...and just about ready to go shopping for this deck. Now if my boss would decide he's overwhelmed with work and call me in for about a week so I can afford this! LOL

Dylan  17 Mar 2005
Can anyone point me in the direction of a supplier who stocks a nice bag to hold this deck?
It is rather large!

shop.wiccked has this one matched to the Druidcraft
http://shop.wiccked.com/archives/tarot_bags/morning_light/index.php

they also do custom orders if your after something different.

Shade  18 Mar 2005
Wahoo! I finally got it. It was worth the wait.

Many details about the deck just don't come across on the web. The faces of the figures for example show a level of detail I had not expected. Also, it feels like there is a great deal of variety in the faces. Most of teh men and women of the Rider-Waite and many other decks all look the same but thsi deck changed it up wuite a bit.
A couple of the cards had some slight imperfections (little white spots) and they are most notable on te Death card, but I don't think it is bad enough to contact the publisher about. I plan on getting a second copy later anway.

Elektra  23 Mar 2005
I was initially interested in this deck, because I have a sick passion for Marion Zimmer Bradley's Avalon series and this seems llike the deck that would be the closest to that in feeling and aesthetic.

But I've been looking at all the scans I can find, and...it's just not speaking to me. The artwork looks a bit too cartoonish for my taste :(.

Sigh. My search for the perfect Celtic deck continues...

Fudugazi  23 Mar 2005
You know it didn't speak to me on the scans either. Not at all!
But it spoke to me in a reading someone did for me. Loud and clear! Fastest deck buying decision I ever made. :)

Now I have it and I am getting to know it. I am not into Celtic lore as a rule -nothing against it, but I just haven't followed the craze, bar the odd CD. I was raised on old Celtic legends, of course, like everyone in French and English speaking Europe.

I like the deck now. It's different from the scans. The cards look likePpre-Raphaelite paintings, something like Rossetti. There is some feel of Rossetti's poetry about them too. It's not at all cartoonish in the hand (for me, a deck that looks cartoonish is the Robin Wood, btw). The atmosphere is the same as in the Pre-Raphaelites but less etherial, more earthy.

I know of no cartoon that could depict spring flowers as they have on the Princess of Swords, or show the cragginess of the rocks worn by moss, or the fur of a rabbit as though you could touch it. It's a very sensuous deck.
