Hi,
I have the Cosmic Tarot deck which I really love. The only "problem" I have with it (which I am more than prepared to stick with and work through) is thata few of the cards deviate (or seem to) from the standard RWS meanings.
ie:
2 of swords: The lady in the picture is in contemplation, with the swords of reason to one side, out of the way. No sense of defensiveness.
Six of sowrds: The person is mastering bodily movements through the mind.
Seven of pentacles: Seems pretty bleak! Seems the man is seeing what he can collect up from the broken pentacles half buried! Hardly the optimistic hard worker waiting to reap the rewards of his labour!
Just wondered if these discrepancies were more tied into the Thoth "system"?
Any help much appreciated. I do have the Huets book, which while being very good, does not offer any sort of comparison to "traditional" meanings.
Am I missing something????
Once again, I can't convey how much I am getting into this deck. It instantly stopped my cravings for more decks.
Regards,
Ian

I have the Cosmic deck and used it as my main reading deck for a while.
I think that it's a deck which works really well with the Thoth keywords and yet uses the pictoral minors of the RWS. I'd definately say the actual card meanings are more Thoth based; that's what drew me to it in the first place. My main beef with the Thoth deck is that I find some of the cards to be overly negative - they give no option of a positive meaning; the 7 of Pentacles for example has the keyword 'Failure' - this is what eventually stopped me using the Cosmic too.
Maybe you should try reading a book on the Thoth deck.
Love
Sulis xx
