While away on vacation, I came across a new deck for sale in a friend's shop. It's called Frank's Tarot, made by a local artist, and subtitled "An Artist's Deck".
For those who like minimalist tarot decks, check this one out.
The cards are 3 x 5, printed on heavy photo stock to preserve the vivid colors. The deck is hand-made, signed and numbered (300 in all) and comes in a white gauzy drawstring bag, at an unbelievable price of $39.95! Those who love handmade, unique decks should also take note.
But the illustrations are minimalist. The Magician, for example shows a hand holding 4 cards, one for each tarot suit, against a red background, with a lemniscate above. The Hierophant pictures a papal crown with crossed keys above, against a pink background. Temperance shows a human hand holding a sprouting plant against a setting/rising sun background, and a full moon. The Minors are similarly "illustrated". Some of the minors are a bit more evocative, meaning-wise, than others...the 8 of Swords depicts 8 swords, loosely bound with a red cord, against a background of clouds, with a gold pyramid above. The minors also have astrological glyphs on them -- the Swords, for example, have the glyphs of the air signs, Gemini, Libra and Aquarius.
The Courts are even more minimal. The suit symbol is shown, along with a jester's style cap (Page), a knight's helmet (Knight), a small crown (Queen) and a large crown (King).
A deck full of rich, vibrant colors, well made, and reasonably priced.

Hi Asher, yes it is an interesting and colourful looking deck going by the images on the website. I noticed the link to the website in another thread here on AT about a week ago as the artist is a member of the forum.

Thanks for posting your comments in regards to the deck/card quality, it is good to know. I would however like to see some more scans of the cards, perhaps if Peacasso sees this thread he/she may post some more to the web site for viewing.
