Well, my friend's coming home for the holidays and she promised to buy me a deck. I originally asked for the Osho-Zen, but then I may be getting one from someone else (hint hint :D) so i've decided to ask the friend to buy me something else. Any suggestions? :) (I'm drawn to things that are very visual, somewhat modern-ish vibrant colors. and all)

Personally I'm loving my Gilded tarot. Vibrant colors, clear images, colorful with lots of pictures (even the minors). It's comp-gen art if you like that kind of thing. It's a very positive deck...always brings out the possible good in a meaning, even on "bad cards"...both the card itself and the book interpretation.
Hope this helps

I would have to second that on the Gilded. It is gorgeous, and the bright colours just pop out against the black background. It is a lovely deck, and the artwork is beautiful. It has quickly become my all-time favourite.

World Spririt
Wonderfully inclusive, multicultural deck. Nice and modern, bright colours - the scans on-line don't do it justice.
Fat folk, thin folk, black folk, white folk, brown folk, blue folk, folk with no pants - you name it, it's got it.
Comes with a really cute little companion book that fits in a bag with the deck.
There's a Study group here on AT.
Love
Sulis xx

well, the gilded does look sumptuous. but i feel after looking at the world spirit that i'm curiously drawn to it. to add to my dilemma, i've just seen scans of the haindl, and well, decided that i lust for it as well! my oh my...

The Haindl has absolutely gorgeous meditative, somewhat melancholy art. I'm hoping to get one for Christmas, too! :D

Here's an idea...
Since you seem to have it narrowed down to 3 decks. Do a reading or have a friend do a reading for you. Something like... What will I learn from this deck? What will our relationship be like? Maybe that would help you narrow it down.
Let us know what you finally think.

I know the Gilded is coming for Christmas, but I treated myself to Isha Lerner's Tarot of the Four Elements, which is wonderful as well. Also I have lately rediscovered Lyle's Secret Tarot (I brazenly trimmed off all the borders of this and the Thoth and the improvement is incredible!). The Four Elements deck comes with a wonderful book of 198 pages. Highly recommended. The system in the book uses a lot of numerology and tribal folklore. BB, Michael

How about the Rohrig?
It's modern with vibrant colours, but Thoth based so it depends whether this would suit you.
You can see the whole deck here:
Rohrig (cards are available in English too)

There's the Sakki-Sakki if you want colourful & vibrant. If you like retro, the Housewive's Tarot might be the trick. I don't have that one myself, as I do the Sakki-Sakki (not for lack of wanting, mind you .. lol! :D), but it's getting some good mentions in the Tarot Decks forum.

Haaaiiiiiiiin dul! Haiiiiiiiiiiiiiiin dul! Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaain dul!
Yes! If you want encouragement, go check our our study group thread. We only got to five cards so far, so it's a pretty quick read.

(Also, Imagemaker and I really like how it looks after snipping off the borders)
In my (humble) opinion, it's a pretty challenging deck. The Majors are beautiful to look at, the Courts take the concept of Courts in a whole new direction, and the Minors are, well, just challenging. The Pollack books are quite good.
Please choose this deck, and join our study group!

yes, i hear the minors can be quite challenging on this one. and i've got no problems with borders (i actually like cards with borders. gives them more definition) and i am just soo drawn with the art. there's some savage yet spiritual quality to it.

Try a WorldTree Deck (www.worldtreeproducts.com) It is 1) colorful 2) good for reading 3) different 4) FUN! (IMHO).

I don't think so. I'm pretty sure it's only available from the Sakki-Sakki website (sakki-sakki.com) from the artist herself, although tarotgarden may have some copies available. It's worth the wait to get it by mail. :)
