As if I had to really ask ;)
TABI, the Tarot Association of the British Isles has been contacted by one of Terry Pratchett's illustrators about a possible DiscWorld Tarot! But, before putting all the effort in , they want to check that there is a market for the product , naturally.
SO, would you think that Discworld and Tarot could go together? If there was a deck would you buy it?
Any views and comments are welcome, and will off course be relayed to Terrys people about it (apparently he's busy scribbling ;) ) !

I would SO buy that! I wonder what card Granny Weatherwax would represent? :D The Patrician instead the Emperor? Hmmm. now I'm going to think about this for ages, lol.

It would be brilliant, if they manage to keep the mix between humorous and profound thoughts the book have. I mean, the books are extremely funny, and so are the drawings, but they are also very well constructed. The books have their own sort of logic, and stick to that. It would be a shame if such a tarot would simply be constructed by illustrating certain scenes from the book.
I think the vertigo tarot might be a good example in some ways. It uses comic-characters, but it also manages to give added depth to the meaning of the cards

Yes, if they got either Pratchett or a tarot expert involved with the choice of characters for the cards. No, if they just picked characters pretty much at random. It would be a real shame to miss an opportunity like this. I'd love a Discworld Caroc or Tarot set.

I'm a Discworld reader, but not a diehard fan. My favorites are the nightwatch books. I'm not sure I would buy a Discworld tarot, but seconding everyone else, I would be more likely to if it were well-constructed. Let us know your progress!

I love Terry Pratchett! I haven't read all his books, but as long as Granny Weatherwax is there, I'll buy it. I think maybe she'd be HP. I'm not coming up with a good Empress but maybe someone else would. I love Nanny Ogg but I think the Empress should have more teeth.
I can't remember the Hierophant's name - but he's there - Mighty Oats, I think. And the Patrician is definitely the Emperor, but definitely a bad pairing with Nanny Ogg. Maybe Magrat and Verence?
I think they'd have to really mess this up bad to keep me away but it could be wonderful. Pratchett is funny, but deep too.
Sorry for this being my first post, but I love this idea so much!

ooooohhhh yes please! i was doing a search last week for one because I thought there would already be one. I love the discworld series, and as long as they didnt just pick characters randomly (as several other people have said) then it would be great... *waits patiently for more news*
always,

I had read Maskerade. It was a fun read.
If there is a Discwold tarot, it must translate the mindset of the books!

Surely Rincewind is The Fool. But who is the Luggage?

You know, this is the type of thing that should be posted on flyers at the science fiction conventions (Dragoncon is coming up....) with an email address that people can give feedback to. If they were smart they'd set up a mailing to the different SF cons and see what the fans say (there are plenty of tarot readers there PLUS fans of the books). And they should send a flyer for posting up to all those comic book shops and sf bookstores as well.

Die-hard Terry Pratchett fan here, with best friends and family who are also die-hard Pratchett and Tarot fans. We all say YES YES YES to a Discworld Tarot, but only if its done well. We don't want to see another cock-up like the LOTR deck.
