Wow, I've been a slacker...it's already January 22, and I _just_ got some new decks. My first new decks of the year, but very worth the wait (I've been trying to get ready for my students who begin classes on Monday next).
First, the delightful Chat du Marseille, an engaging rendition of the TdM with feline figures. And the bag included with my deck has the cutest little monkeys on it! If we only had the Minors and Courts, I would have a Marseille deck to actually use!
Next, the Tarocco di Colombo, another Amerigo Folchi deck to ad to my collection. A beautiful, very colorful deck using the theme of Christopher Columbus and his voyage.Lovely Majors, and very interesting, quasi-illustrated Minors. The suit of Coins depicts Columbus meeting one of the indigenous people (in America?), and the other cards depict corn, vegetables, tobacco, etc. The "currency" of the times. Wands depict maps of Columbus' voyages, Cups depict his ship at sea, and Swords, depict, well, swords against a green background.
And last but, certainly not least, the Brotherhood Tarot! This is one I have been waiting for!! Billed as inspired by "Gay history and mythology to create the ultimate masculine fantasy deck...with bold, colorful Radical Faerie imagery." It's a photographic deck, depicting real people (Faeries), so it will not appeal to all. But for me, it's a actual _Gay_ deck I can use with my friends. Its imagery is RWS based, so it's readable right out of the box. It is reminiscent of the Cosmic Tribe (another favorite of mine), but with less nudity. Some of the images are a bit different also, and from the artist's website, we can look forward to a companion guidebook sometime this year.
I'm off to play for the rest of the weekend!

Since the first of the year, the Tarot of the Mages, Pet Tarot, Russian/Bakhtim, Elefanten Tarot, Cracked Tarot, Flair Tarot, and three anime decks have arrived from ebay auctions. From Aeclectic trades, I've received the Greenwood, and Tarocchi Celtii/Lupatelli. I also got the Graphik Tarocchi and Tarocchi della Follia (Madness) from a private sale, with the Mexicano, Tiny Bug, and Tresors du Tarot in the wings. I'm still waiting for the Garden Path, Dimenzio, Numerological, and Moonprincess to arrive. Yesterday, I got the great news that a Lasenic Tarot, I've been searching for, had been found, and will soon be here!

1. Lovers Path Tarot (ordered previously)...beautiful fun with La Vita Nuava
2. Convos Marseilles (sale decks at astroamerica.com)...comparing with other Convers (slowly). Nightstand tarot
3. Forest Folklore (ordered previously)...using with Dream workbook--another nightstand tarot.
I may be trading a Tarot Tokens book for an older Albano Waite with a friend (not on Aeclectic.net) and may throw in a better Visconti for her (located one used that she might not have). If so, then I will be back in my Rider Waite Smith land and groovy retro nonsence.
Been using my Celestial, Secrets, Alchemical & Trevisan Renaissance for daily readings...but starting to study with di Vetro (Crystals) and El Gran Esoterico and the Minchiate. I rotate decks in two baskets each month.

I just ordered my very first deck of the year (and only my second deck ever) earlier tonight. Although my first deck feels like a 2005 deck because it was a Christmas gift.
I ordered the Gay Tarot, actually 2, one to use and one to give as a gift (maybe, lol).
So I'm gonna be going crazy waiting for it to arrive for the next 2-15 business days! lol

Just recieved this week from Llewellyn's sale.
Bologna~ had a fond feeling for this deck the minute I opened the box. The colors remind me of my paint with water color books I had as a child. Soothing watery colors, and gentle friendly faces.
Liguria-Piedmont~ this will be nice for comparing. Looks very Marseille to me. Beautiful old gold coloring.
Lombardy~ very delicate in line and color...pips very plain, but refreshing.
Master ~ The art is just lovely. This one is next on the pile to be looked into more throughly.
Gnomes~threw these in as an after though but I find them very endearing.
And also:
Forest Folklore~ Not to happy with this one. Just not what I expected. And I can't really put my finger on what it is. Still need to work with it a little more to see if it will become a reading deck.
Dodal~amazing! Thank you kenji you're my hero!
Carta Mundi~ wonderful for comparison with the Dodal
Frances Cartes Marseille~ should be here anyday probably the last Marseille I will add to my collection.
Vargo Gothic~ Spooky!! And deep. My first vampire, gothicy deck. Like stepping into another world.
Dreaming in Color~ an oracle really. I use it for meditation. Have fallen in love with this one. Use it in combination wih my Expanded Intuition Training series.
Have Druidcraft and Tarot of the Secret Forest on pre-order.
And I would like to add a Visconti, Mitelli, Saprafino, and Estensi to my collection this year.

A bargain shop in my town actually had a tarot deck: the Shakespeare Oracle. After reading a very positive review about this deck on tarotpassages ( http://www.tarotpassages.com/shakespeareoracle.htm ) I decided it was probably worth getting it. I really like the colours of the deck. Comes with a big book too that looks interesting too.
And non-tarot: I got by mail the Green Man Tree Oracle, this has been on my wishlist a long time and I wanted to get it before it became hard to find - although it does not look like this will happen, as OBOD is selling it again too. I wanted it for the artwork, but I think I may actually use it, I could use it together with the Druidcraft (same artist).
And, not even a deck, but in another bargain shop I found the Celtic Wisdom Sticks by Caitlin Matthews. They are wooden sticks with tree names and ogham symbols on them, they look a lot nicer than I thought they would, and they will also go nicely with the green man tree oracle.
All were bought with birthday money, so I think of them as birthday presents :)

I've only gotten one deck so far this year -- I must be slipping. :-)
It's I Tarocchi del Cinema, and it's very fun. Every card is a different film or actor.
It's a majors only deck, and all in Italian, so some of the little pamphlet is beyond me.
Here are some cool examples --
Lovers - Casablanca
Emperor - Ben Hur
Justice - Gregory Peck
Star - Elizabeth Taylor
Sun - Clark Gable

I wonder if the swords depict Columbus's chopping off the hands of native people who couldn't give him enough gold?
Before you get to enamoured of this deck, perhaps you should read Columbus' own diary, and the works of the monk de los Casas, who documented what went on in those voyages.
And corn, vegetables, tobacco, etc. were not the "currency" of the times. Columbus wanted, demanded, gold, and millions, yes, millions, of Arawak, Carib, Taino, and other Native people died because of it.
I think this deck sounds shameful.

My first deck of 2005 was the Housewives Tarot (which I adore!), and I also got the Green Man Tree Oracle and the Druid Animal Oracle... so I've got lots to play with right now ;)
