I was wondering how many people have this one, & what kinds of readings you use it for. I boughtit a few weeks ago & am throughly enamored with it. I figured we could start a study group if enough people were willing & had the deck.
Blessings,

Also, we just completed our second "Break Out Your Vampire Decks" reading circle in the exchange forum which is a great way to get some practice and to see how others use their vampire decks (I use the Lo Scarabeo myself, and adore it. )
Keep an eye out for Break Out Your Vampire Decks III.

I have this deck too and it is my absolute favourite. I actually use it quite often. I was just looking through my Tarot journal the other day and realized just how much. Most of the times I pull this deck out when questions are very personal and important to me. Never for minor issues or just playing. It's hard to describe but something deep down inside connects with the symbolism. If you browse through the threads about this deck you can read about my enthusiasm with this deck.
A study group might be in fact a great idea. I think the stories behind the cards can be interpreted in many different ways and I would be interested in hearing other people's opinion. I don't know how much I can participate though, as I'm quite busy. But I would certainly try to make room for it!

SongDeva, I cannot believe I missed part 2 of our vampire reading circle! I so have been looking forward to the next one. But I've been forced to studying the last 2 weeks. So now I will keep my eyes open for part 3. Meanwhile, I'll read your latest circle and will gnash my teeth. ;)

A reading with the Gothic Tarot of Vampires.
I noticed with this deck that meanings can mean more. The booklet is great but the cards might not, for me, read the way the author says. I like this deck. It’s dark but emotions are very much open in these cards and they get you thinking outside of the normal. I like the use of the human condition the darkness and the light through the darkness themes that run through these cards.
I used the Celtic Cross for the Spread, I asked the cards about a relationship. (Using Rachel Pollack’s from 78 Degrees of Wisdom – I like this version. I have used others but somehow hers makes sense to me.)
Center: 3 of Wands
This is what defines the relationship. The card is beautifully drawn. A man is carrying an unconscious woman (vampire victim??) a woman in a long flowing white coat (at first I almost thought this was a doctor) is walking towards them. There is a red cross on a large “church” window. We can’t see the his face, we see only the side view.
If I took the “route” meaning of the card (idiot’s guide) It would be Partnership in cooperation, fresh ideas.
The booklet that comes with the card says, “Haste, sincere drive, urgency.”
But I remembered something from 78 Degrees of Wisdom on page “Maintaining a primary relationship while still looking for a new friends or lovers.”
This last part hit home. It defines the relationship that I am doing the spread for.
Crossing: The World
What is crossing this relationship—The world.
This card is interesting. A new mother holding her child. The wind is blowing drapes behind her and she is sitting cross legged in a pool of water.
Both the Booklet and the general meaning is the same --Peace – happiness.
What it means? That this relationship brings peace to both people in it.
Basis (of the relationship): Wheel (of Fortune)
A vampire holds a cube in his hand, his face is pleased.
The booklet calls this card the Wheel “Fate – Chance, inevitability, things that change even if the change is unwanted.
General meaning: Lucky times ahead, change in a positive direction.
There is a change happening in the lives of the people in this relationship, which was going to happen, it’s in the cards. It’s fate that brought them together.
Recent Past: Knight of Wands
A vampire is facing three armed people. In the background there are two victims laying on the ground bleeding. The vampire looks angry.
The Booklet says: Translation, intervening in other people’s business, accepting ungratefulness.
General meaning. Impatient, action, traveling, has to move for movement’s sake, eagerness.
I get something different from this card. The Vampire is now the hunted; he has lost his footing, now he has to fight for what he wants. He can’t feed and fight. If he continues to feed he will die, and if he fights he might die. He has to move away from the fight and from his feeding, and it leaves him angry and hungry.
It’s almost like he is damned if he does and damned if he doesn’t.
So in the past both people felt like they were trapped like the vampire in the card.
Possible Outcome: 4 of Pentacles
Rachel Pollack calls this card the “Miser,” who protects himself from the outside world.
The image on this card is different from the Rider deck image of a man surrounded by the pentacles. A man (vampire) is sitting at the far end of a long table. There is a fire going on in a large fireplace behind him. On the wall is an erotic painting. He is looking forward as one hand is resting comfortably on the table while the other is raised up, flipping a coin in the air.
I see the possible outcome as the couple being secure in what they have made. It’s solid and can be comfortable.
Near Future: The Moon
This card in the Gothic tarot of Vampires is much different from the Rider card. We see a woman looking into a mirror. In the mirror the woman is holding her hands out towards her. In the back ground there are “spirits” of people some happy some sad. The woman is afraid to look, she is covering her eyes.
The booklet says: “The Memory –Images, desires, intuition, dreams.”
General Meaning: Imagination – Intuition – Fantasy – Illusion – psychic ability
Could this be a warning… Pay attention to what is happening, know your fantasy from reality. It’s easy to fall into the dream, but be rooted by the 4 of Pentacles. ????
Self (the Relationship): King of Cups
(This card showing up in this position didn’t shock me. He has been coming up a great deal in my readings lately)
The image of the king is at a 45 degree angle. The Vampire King is sitting in his throne slouched down legs apart. In his hands is a cup of blood. It doesn’t look like he is hungry or very much interested in the cup. His face is serious, intent and strong. (you know he will deal out hard justice) His tie is crooked (Which is eerie because everything else is perfect—is it saying he is not perfect?). There is an empty chair in front of him with a “gargoyle” sitting on the edge of it. He has red blonde hair. He is wearing a purple suit jacket with blood red shirt, an orange tie, and blue pants.
Booklet says: “Creativity, control over emotions, moral legacy.
General meaning: A loving caring leader.
The relationship is like the King confident strong determined. It’s not perfect (like the crooked tie) but it’s comfortable.
Environment: 6 of Wands
This is a fearsome card. A vampire is attacking/challenging in full view of the public. He and the other vampire are in color. Bright colors – red s—yellows. The people that are around them have their eyes close or they are walking on their way. The attacking vampire is confident and aggressive. The other vampire was in fear.
Booklet: “Communication, community, power of faith or will.”
General meaning: Success is going to happen. Recognition – Winning a battle.
There are challenges all around the relationship, it’s a struggle worth fighting because it’s winnable.
Hopes and Fears: Temperance
A vampire is standing in the middle of a Blood Rain. His mouth open as if screaming, and his hands are straight down. Is he in pain or is in pleasure?
Booklet: “Blood – Care, nourishment, life, spiritual inspiration.”
General meaning.: Balance, patience self control. Inner strength.
Isn’t this a little of both. The Vampire is getting too much of a good thing, needs to control his inner struggles. Both people might fear self control and/or hope for inner strength to control the battle in them.
Outcome: The Stars
In this deck this Card is called the Stars. A clothed woman walking away, eyes down cast and holding on to name tags. The sky is full of stars. The woman looks content at one with the night.
The Booklet: “Night –Solitude, hope desire for redemption and life.”
General meaning: Hope – good health – goodness. Healing --
There is hope for this relationship as the woman is content and one with the night, the relationship can flower and bloom, even in the darkness.
Okay.. I know this is rather long. But I really wanted to share this reading with you. I love this deck it’s really made a connection to me. I find that there is so much to learn from this deck. This is the only deck that really grabbed me to look beyond the general meanings and look at what the card has to say. I also have wrote detailed notes in my Tarot Journal on these cards. Much like above.
I would love to participate in a study group for these cards.
Thanks for reading!

I'm glad to hear that many others like this deck as much as I do. If I get more votes for the study group we'll try to do one.

I do have this one but I haven't read with it yet. The cards without names can be a good idea, at least it would makes me work a little bit harder! lol!

I purchased this deck yesterday. I haven't done any readings with it yet. It's unlike any other decks I already have. The Moon card, number 18, struck a deep cord in me, which makes sense because self-discovery and attempting to embrace my darker side has been my focus for sometime now. I'd like to be included in the study group.

I can't belive I missed the Break out your Vampire decks II! Anyway, I put up the thread to see how many people wanted to do the study group. If I get 10+ replies for it, we'll start with card 0.
