Dreampower Tarot

Has anyone here used this deck? I couldn't find any threads on it using the search feature. I would be interested in hearing about it if you've used it.

The trumps are a bit mysterious and surreal, like dream imagery.
There is an online reading site here, it gives very little interpretation:
http://www.dreampower.com/tarot_online.html

The layout used is complicated. It is interesting that the 22 spaces in the layout are also the names of the 22 Trumps. Somehow it works better with these trumps than it would with the regular tarot trumps. For example one Trump is "The Choir" which shows a lot of different animals all making their sounds at once, and is about the influence people around you have. This works as both a card and a spread position.

This is so different many might not consider it tarot.

It is out of print unfortunately.

I have this deck. I got it in a trade at Aeclectic.
Before I had the deck I visited the site you mention to see all the cards, but I never tried to understand the spread though - he uses so many cards and they are all very untraditional too.

I think it is easiest not to think of this deck as tarot. In the end of the book he gives the correspondences with traditional tarot, but some cards connect to more than one traditional meaning, so I think that would only confuse me.
He has also made his own division of the majors into three groups. So far I haven't really bothered with that, but looked at the descriptions for the individual cards. I think I want to use it mostly intuitively, let the art speak for itself.

The artwork in the majors and courts is stunning, too bad he could not think of anything to do with the minors. As far as I am concerned he could just have left them out.
I like the deck best for meditation, I think it will work for certain readings - readings to do with dreams or psychological issues.

i won this deck off e-bay about 3 weeks ago. the box was a bit bashed but the book and cards were in perfect condition.
i love the majors, especially the stairway but i confess i've had a bit of an influx of new decks and haven't given this (or any of the other newbies) the care and interest which they all deserve. from what i've seen so far , i don't think i'd treat it as tarot at all-it's more of a seperate entity.
looking forward to seeing how others find the deck!
love tink xx

Thank you both for answering. I agree that the minors are much less interesting visually.Tinkerbell, I liked the Stairway card a lot also. That one, the Maze and the Observatory seem like very clear visual metaphors for interior states and processes. Good luck with the deck.

The images on the Majors and Court Cards are from visions and dreams of the designer of the deck, R J Stewart. Though the deck contains the 40 minor cards necessary for any deck to get published today its purpose is to open your imagination to the images on the picture cards.
R J has been working for years in the Faery and UnderWorld Traditions, and this deck is a tool to accompany the excercises and visualizations to be found in his recent books, primarily The UnderWorld Initiation, Earthlight, and Power within the Land. It is not for doing "readings," though R J can do a good one if you pay him ;)
Any of you planning to attend the Pantheacon in San Jose this weekend can see him talk about his work there. Lovers of airy-fairy tarots would greatly benefit from hearing him. Though I no longer work in this tradition I still value it highly.
