Hi to everyone.
I would like any advice on a pocket sized deck, witch has a white border on the rear.
I own the Rider pocket deck and very nice it is. The pattern on the rear fills the whole card, which i do like, but i also want a deck this size, with a border.
Can anyone suggest a suitable deck, bearing in mind i am a beginner in this art of Tarot.
Thanks

Do you mean a "white border" on the backs of the cards?
Most card backs are full pattern designs, and the border
there would be more of a line-type style done to highlight.
Pocket size too may need clarification. Do you mean "Mini"?

Dylan,
In the pocket size 3 1/2 in x 2 1/4 in the only one that pops immediantly to mind is a pocket Thoth the one that comes in a blue box.
Slightly smaller but still bigger than the Waite mini's is the 3 1/4in x 1 7/8 mini Hanson Roberts in the Tarot to Go set.
Also in a a size that is in between the above would be the African Tarot.
I'm sure there are more but these are what came to mind right off the top.

Thanks for your replys
By pocket size, i mean roughly the size of playing cards.
The border i would like is on the rear of the cards.

I guess I'll just ask if these are for
an RPG or other rolestyle game? :)

Hmmm, the Art Nouveau mini deck has a white border on the back, around a pale mauve design. ISBN 888395324-X. However, mini decks are a bit smaller than playing cards--mine measures 3"x1.5", quite tiny. The regular Hanson-Roberts deck measures roughly 3.75"x2.5", very much like a playing card. It has a white border on the back, with a funky blue, yellow and red celtic design on the back.

I dont think the pocket Universal Waite has borders on the backs. The back design on the pocket size is different fron the standard. The link below is from USG click on previous image and you will see the card back. On first look it seems to have borders but looking closley at the corners I think this is just the framing on the pic. Does anyone have this so as to give a clear answer on it?

Yes, it seems the Universal Waite do have a full patterned back according to the picture on that link.
Not to worry, i have already ordered them, you cant have too many Tarot cards i suppose, especially looking as nice as they do.
I will use my Robin Wood deck for the specific task i needed white borders for.
Thanks to everyone for your help.

Sorry Dylan, I didn't realise the backs were different on the pocket version of the Universal Waite.
Just out of curiousity, what specific task do you need white borders for?

The card backs of the Connolly Tarot have quite a lot of essentially white space, and it comes in a "mini" size as well (fits in the palm of the hand). This smaller size was suggested to me for use as tarot-related business cards; the printing of a name, address, phone number, etc. could easily fit on the backs.
Since I don't know what you need the space for, I'm not sure this helps. This tarot certainly has the room on the backs for a fair bit, however. Best wishes!
