After many months of searching for this now out of print set of Tarot Cards, we have recently acquired a near mint set of the Quester cards together with the accompanying book and their box. Previously we had managed to only get a copy of the book but no cards.
Both the books, although in reasonable condition, have no illustrated cover (dust jacket), they have a plain brown hardback with a simple feather motif. However the book dedicates an appendix to the symbolism of the illustration on the cover. We at first thought this was refering to the illustration on the cover of the box, which shows the Brave facing away from you. But reading the appendix it mentions things that aren't visible in this illustration, suggesting an illustration where the Brave is facing you.
Therefore we can only assume that the appendix refers to adifferent illustration on the book's dust jacket. Can any owners of "Quester: Journey Of The Brave" clarify this for us and if possible send us a scanned image of this "missing" illustration?
Thank you in adavance

On the credits page, before the dedication page, it says:
Cover design by Slatter-Anderson
Card credits and text illustrations by Mike Giddens
Perhaps the lost cover illustration may be envisioned both
"consciously and unconsciously" as we are told on page 3
that the Qabalah symbology in this Native American deck
will also appear to us within our minds ~ as if via osmosis.

Thanks Fulgour
I must confess that thought was also starting to cross my mind & I quite like the idea that the appendix is describing what can easily be seen with the naked eye and that which will be "visible" once your sub conscious becomes fully attuned to the cards

Too True, Anglorik
They must have planned to release the set with
a dust cover on the book, or a different design?
It seems to have never happened, and yet the
Appendix remained in its original form. Big typo!

So the next question has to be was the illustration ever completed? It’s always possible that the appendix was written first and then the illustration was to be created to include all the described symbolism. Then again is it more likely that the illustration was created first and the appendix written around it?
I suppose the only way to really find out will be to contact either Patricia Beattie or Mike Giddens and ask them. Clearly the question of a missing dust jacket in no way detracts from the true "beauty" of the cards but it would nice to solve this mystery!!
