I was finally ready for another new deck, and chose The Gilded. It arrived yesterday from Amazon, and the vibrant beauty of the art brought tears of joy to my eyes.
And the quality of the die cutting makes me want to cry.
The edges are very rough, some cards are lightly chipped, and most of them are warped in a way that suggests the dies were so dull that the edges were compressed by the cutting. I am afraid to shuffle the deck, because it is going to chip so much.
Did I get a bad copy or is this the norm for this deck? I don't have many Llewellyn decks, and the ones I do are older ones, with light colored backgrounds, so it hasn't been a concern.
I thought I'd ask on AT, because I don't want to deal with Amazon's snail-paced return and replacement process if I am going to get exactly the same deck back.

I ordered the deck on amazon.co.jp but I haven't received yet.
anyway I have received an email from amazon 'we have sent' so maybe a short later
I will receive it.
I read a review on amazon.and it was a very good review.
and a woman's review who got the deck from amazon also.
I am looking forward to receive my one very much

I'm sorry to hear this, I can imagine your disappointment - I would be too.
You have a bad copy. The edges on mine are smooth and shiny and no sign of warping at all.
I think you should email Llewellyn direct with the complaint.

Thank you. I was hoping that this was an unfortunate exception. Off to email them right now, and am very hopeful of having a copy that matches the gorgeous quality of the art work.

Hope your e-mailing gets you some quick results.

Llewellyn's customer service is top-rate, in my experience. I'm sure that they will replace the deck right away. What a disappointment!

Yes do contact Llewellyn. If you have receieved this deck recently its probably for the second print run. I received a couple of courtacy samples and they seemed ok. If you have any problems replacing the deck (which I doubt) let me know and I'll send you one of mine.

Ciro, thanks for your offer. I've written to Llewellyn, and will keep you posted on how it works out. I've heard that they are quite accommodating, and expect it will work out fine.
I would assume it's a deck from the second printing, because everyone had sold out of the deck by the time I realized thatIi wanted it, and I've just noticed it back in stock.
