This one, on eBay.com, is mistakenly identified as "Rare First Edition PAUL FOSTER CASE TAROT CARDS." Apparently the cards were kept with some tarot material issued by BOTA, but the fact that there are 78 of them, along with the pictured back, clearly identifies it as one of the original Rider editions. I've e-mailed the seller requesting a jpeg of The Sun card. Collectors, start your salivary glands!
p.s. scintillating*jewel, who has been buying up every original edition RWS she can find on eBay, has already placed a bid on it.

The Church of Light in Los Angeles issued a 1937 Rider Waite Tarot with some variations in coloring, which can be identified by the Three of Cups and the crackle back.
It may still be rare, because a copy of the same style of Rider Waite is in the Cary Yale museum and some the cards can be viewed using these links:
1. Cary Yale search page:
http://beinecke.library.yale.edu/dl_crosscollex/
2. Enter "Pamela Smith or Pamela Colman Smith".
3. Among the image scans that come up, you can click on the Rider Waite Tarot cards and for instance, the Three of Cups:
http://beinecke.library.yale.edu/dl_crosscollex/brbldl/oneITEM.asp?pid=2003235&iid=1013577&srchtype=
I hope this helps collectors. It's a lovely deck for the coloring variations and being early, but please be aware some editions can be dated around 1937.
Best wishes,
Cerulean

Cerulean must have been huddling with Holly again :) The sky on the eBay 3 of Cups looks too blue in the online scans to be the Church of Light deck, but I'll try to get a jpeg of it to make sure. Thanks for the altogether new insight on RWS editions. When is Holly going to update her page? The html is starting to decay.

I'm probably too-too excited about my finding the links to PCS works on Cary-Yale online...I'm sorry to hear about the html decay on Holly's site. Not certain how to suggest a solution to a website problem, as I heard recently that she was on a limited budget.
Anyway, hope the scans of the crackle-back version of the 1937 Church of Light deck helps another collector, if the one on e-bay isn't the same one. Thank you for your observations and corrections.
Best wishes,
Cerulean

Actually, blame only me. I'm probably too-too excited about my finding the links to PCS works on Cary-Yale online..
Oops! I should have realized that Detective First Grade Hoshizaki, already famous for cracking the Eudes Picard code, key to solving the Crystal Tarot Caper, didn't need no steenkin' help tracking down anything. My apologies for the oversight :(

She (an assumption of gender here) also seems to be selling off individual cards from a dissasembled deck!

The seller has e-mailed me that he doesn't know how to send scans by e-mail and besides eBay wouldn't let him. I've sent him links to Holly's page and the Cary Collection and washed my hands of it. Anyone wanting to bid on this deck (our quarkling already has) can deal with the seller themselves. I'm retiring from eBay watching.

I have just had a look at the 3 of Cups from the link above.
Can anyone tell me how this varies from any other early, crackle back 3 of cups?
I have looked on Holly's site and can find nothing about a Paul Foster Case deck other than the usual BOTA line drawing deck.
P.S. Holly's site is a really great resource.
I hope she can keep it going because it would be so sad to loose it.
I don't know how much (in terms of both money and time) that a web site requires, but I am sure it is a lot.
However, it is a great site. I have learned so much there.

The deck up for auction is a Pamela "C". It is much rarer than the "B" version that has been appearing on ebay so much lately.
