Yes... it is finally here, Ros. :)
Shining Moon and Song Deva... Looking through the deck, I know exactly what you mean, although I would say the Page of Bolers (Wheels) takes the cake.
Seriously... I can understand no one wanting to part with the Romani. The book is very informative and will be a whole education by itself.
It is my first deck peopled by men, women and children who could have stepped out of the real world! I can say that about the Rohrig and pieces of Voyager, I suppose, but all my other decks are either abstract, fantastical or historical. :)

My, my, how your collection is growing :)
I must admit, the Buckland Romani is one of those decks I looked at and told myself I would never get (the PoMo was another). I haven't used it very often, and there are some cards which annoy me, but on the whole, this is a good deck.

Good for you :D
I'm really glad it's arrived and you like it so much. This is one of those decks I almost bought when it was still in print but didn't. Keep wishing I had - I really like borderless decks. I know nothing of Romani ways or lifestyle though - I think this is what stopped me getting it.
Well done for finding a copy :)
Love
Sulis xx

:) By now you must have realized, Dan, that not only do I enjoy reading the cards, I am also a collector of same. I didn't start off like that, but my love of art has led me to it. It is an opportunity for me to own little artistic gems. There are decks I will probably never use for my personal readings, like I use the Osho, the Voyager or will use the Petersen, but I also enjoy studying each artist's interpretation of each major and minor, not to mention how different systems produce such different readings. It's fascinating.
If you have decks you feel I should take a look at, please, please let me know. I value your suggestions, Dan. :)

Thanks, Sulis! It was Ros who found it for me. :)
I know..., it will be an education for me, too. I know very little about Romani ways and the book seems very good. I know how you feel about decks that go out of print. I seem to be on my way to becoming a collector. Since decks do go out of print, it may seem like an extravagance at first, but I think many of these beautiful decks will become treasures in time; and, I'm sure you'll agree, they are so very beautiful.
Every time I buy one, it's how I feel about books: that I am supporting writers and artists in whatever humble way I can.

You must be living in a real pretty section of the real world Namaste! :D (I had thought your real world might look more like the Tarot of Oz ;) )
Congrats on your new deck. I hope you start posting about it so I can learn some more of it's details.

Congratulations, Namaste!
I also have and love the Buckland Romani. It's straightforward without being too simple, and I feel that it's a nice balance between the spiritual and the mundane. I know you'll enjoy your new addition!

Thanks, Similia. :)
In spite of all the dross and heartache, we do live in a beautiful world, don't we? It's some of the actions of some people that create all the ugliness and pain, but if this is a karmic school, each one of us must do our best to beautify our world. Aren't these cards lovely? :D

Thanks, Myrrha. I did only one reading - the new deck spread with 3 cards - and it's the first time that three majors showed up! :)

You've hit the nail right on the head, Ulfdis. :)
It really is a perfect balance between the spiritual and the mundane. Thank you. I hope you will join me, if ever I get around to revisiting a study of this deck.

If anyone is interested, and near Glastonbury...
I saw a secondhand, and in very good condition, deck in the shop next to the Psychic Piglet (yep that's the real name - lovely shop) at a reasonable price. I nearly bought it.....went for lunch, went back to the shop several times for another look (by this time hubby was tapping his foot!) and....... didn't buy it! I know... I know.... but apart from the lovers card it didn't do much for me, so I left it for someone who who would love it more.
There......been keeping that to myself - just in case! Kiama? you there?

That's great, Moonbow. :) I think it's out of print now, so if anyone wants it, now is the time to grap it up...

I have this deck and I love it. But just one question to all that have it. Is it just me or does the Page of Chivs (knives) bear an uncanny resemblence to Brad Pitt???? I find this so distracting when using these cards. And my partner (who doesn't read cards at all) also pointed it out.

:) It's not just you. He does look a lot like Brad Pitt. I have no idea if that was intentional on the part of the artist, or just a coincidence. That card comes up a lot in my readings about my kids. My younger boy is a Page of Chivs if ever there was one, although he's no Brad Pitt. (Thank goodness... I'd have to clean my shotgun on the front porch every time a young woman walked down our street, LOL!)
I hope you will join me, if ever I get around to revisiting a study of this deck.
You bet!

Thanks Ulfdis. It's nice to know I'm not the only one who sees it. (My BF doesn't count cause he's crazy ;) )
I have just finished reading the companion book and I was actually a little disappointed. I liked the way that the cards were discussed but I would of liked to have seen more Gypsy History/Ritual included. That's one of my main reasons for buying a deck and book set and not just the book. I like to read about the history/myths/traditions that the decks are based on. I suppose that's what Buckland's other Gypsy books are for huh?
