slick decks...wow!

I have just purchased a new copy of the Universal Rider-Waite deck...My old deck was getting really worn. Much to my surprise, the new deck seems to have a different finish. A very slick, shiny coat which looks and feels absolutely fabulous! Has anyone else noticed this new finish on any of their new decks? I am hoping that all U.S. game decks will have this spiffy new coating....Thanks!

Many but not all decks have a slick coating. Sometimes a bit too slick for me, it makes the cards slide in all directions if I am not careful ;) But it is good for the durability of a deck, makes it less vulnerable for stains or wear.

I found Radiant Rider to be extremely slippery. Hard to hold on to. Almost like it has an extra coat of laminate or something.

The Pocket Edition of the Universal Waite has this same slickness ~ very slippery.

Some of my decks have the slick coating, but I noticed that they don't slide at all. In fact they bunch up when I try to fan them out. I think it may have to do with obsence amount of static electricity in my house. I wonder if rubbing them with a dryer sheet would help. They seem to stick less now, and as a bonus they smell sunshiney fresh. B.S. Dog

I noticed how slick the decks are now when I recently purchased two (Goddess and Universal Waite). I hadn't bought any cards in years and it was a surprise. I like it though. Initially I was concerned because I took the Universal out quick to peak at it and give it a quick shuffle on the way home and they were all stuck together. When I got home and shuffled them a few times they were perfect though.

My shakespearian tarot has a definite slide to it, never staying in a stack, but it doesnt have a ''slippery feel'' to it-i just cant hold on to it. It makes it even harder because its humongous.
