Last night I had a strange dream, and in it I saw a very clear vision of a tarot card. It was "Strength" but the person in the card was represented by a creature with an animal's face. In other words he/she had a person's body but an animal's head. Unfortunately, I can't remember the exact animal, but it seemed to have been something like a bear/wolf/panther. Sort of a dark furred creature. The creature was by him/herself, not like the traditional Strength card that has a woman and a lion. The gaze was facing the right side of the card, and there were some vague architectural details in the background
The artwork was in color, but traditional media like pen and ink, as opposed to photographic collages or anything high-tech looking. The colors were neither faded nor vivid, but just medium intensity like the Universal Waite for example.
I wanted to see if this rings a bell with anyone before I start doing a search myself because I don't want other images to dilute my memory of it.
Any clue? It's the strength card in particular I'd love to get a glimpse of. I have no idea if this is a deck I'd buy or if this creature in particular is trying to tell me something.
(MODS: Can I put a cross link to this somewhere else in the forum to get people's feedback on that aspect of it?)

Hi Lunar
Perhaps it's the tarot that you're yet to create ;)

Gosh, that wasn't something I expected. LOL! I think I'd need to learn the tarot a lot better than I know it now before undertaking a job like that. But you inspired me to at least sketch out what I saw and my card ended up looking more like Justice than Strength. And my animal person was wearing a toga. Maybe Egyptian? I'm off to research the Egyptian pantheon.
An interesting card though, now that I look at it more analytically, because instead of the animal and person wrestling, it seems they have become one creature. Is that weird? It still feels symbolic, but I'm not sure of what.
Well at least maybe I can participate in the next AT tarot. ;-)

The shapeshifter tarot was a good link to explore. Thanks!
I started doing all kinds of Google image searches, and found this piece of artwork which is so similar to the sketch I just drew that it's SPOOKY! It's not a tarot card, but it sure looks like one, doesn't it?

I have since discovered a clear message from Sekhmet, which is really fascinating because it took A LOT of pieces to fall together for me to figure this out. I'll post about it in the Spirituality forum when I get the chance.
Now interestingly and more on topic for this section of the forum, Sekhmet is a very good figure for the Strength card. I learned that she is the Egyptian goddess of war, and twin to the better-known Bastet. While Bastet is associated with the cat, Sekhmet is associated with the lion. Bastet is the moon, home, gentle mother vs. Sekhmet is the sun, warrior, powerful crone. Together they remind me of the traditional version of the woman wrestling the ferocious lion. The warning being that the lion chooses to be subdued, and you'd better treat him with respect or he'll turn on you. (i.e. watch out for pent up anger)
Thank you all for your bits and pieces of advice. You gave me just the clues I needed to find my answer!

Lunar - just checked your profile which confirmed my suspicions...you are a Leo sun! Both the Strength card and Sekhmet have strong associations with the sign....what a wonderful, powerful message from your creative unconscious! BTW, have you thought of posting your drawing in the Tarot Creation forum? :)

From your description, I think it just might be the Greenwood:

Edited to say, you have to go to the 'fours' and scroll almost to the bottom. The Greenwood has a different order to other decks.

This sounds like the Ancient Egyptian Tarot, although the Strength card in this deck is not exactly as you dreamed it. The AET Strength card pictures Sekhmet, with the body of a woman and the head of a lion. She is not alone in the card, as there is a lion at her feet. In front of the lion is a snake, who forms the lemniscate found in most versions of this card. Sekhmet does not gaze off to the right in this card, but stares straight at you.
I have not been able to find this card on any tarot sites, although you can find jpegs of other cards from this deck on the net. I can scan this card and email it to you if you wish to see it.
