Hello all, this is my first posting as a new member. I have a question and an interesting experience to share.
I recently purchased the DruidCraft Tarot Deck and have been reading through the included book several times to get a feel for this deck...so far so good. I then thought I would look through the deck itself to get a feel for the cards and get comfortable with them. I was looking through the deck, and when I got to the Four Of Swords, I got this almost physical jolt. There was something so interesting and so familiar with it that I felt I had an immediate connection with it.
What I was wondering was, has anyone else felt so 'attracted' to a single card in this deck? Or any other deck for that matter? It's my newbie understanding that most people can and often do relate to the court cards, but once looking at this card I knew that was me sitting there...I know, it sounds odd, I've never had this experience with other Tarot Decks, or Oracles.
This has been preoccupying me, and I have not even done my first reading with this Deck yet.
Any and all comments are welcome.
Alex

Hey Forest W, welcome to Aeclectic! I haven't been here long myself, but I think you'll like it here! Lot's of very intelligent people. :) Not including me unfortunatly. :P
Ok, stalling. Personally, that sounds like a good way to start of a relashionship with a new deck! Some people don't know what to do when they get a new deck but, hey, you found yourself! Sounds like a good deck to me!
Unfortunatly, I've never bought a new deck. I've only ever made them. Looking forward to the moment when I get one though. 4 of Swords is an interesting card to feel conected to. I've never seen the picture of that card in that deck, so I can't really say anything. And I've never bought a new deck. So I'm not entirely sure what I'm doing here. Ah well!
Welcome, and I hope someone more competant then I comes and posts soon! :P

I find the entire deck pulls me to places where I didn't think I could reach. It is a powerful deck with profound messages to give to you and whom ever you read for. There are a few cards that "pull" me right in. Many of the cards are laced together as well if you pay attention to the imagery and compare....you will notice a lot of small messages that come from cards that overlap each other. Sometimes.....just looking at a card, you will come out with something that nobody else will see if they follow the standard definitions....I've did some readings that I have no idea where I got what I did...and I find that I pull from all different directions. This deck is absolutely amazing and has given my intuition a totally new level to work on....and a much more profound way of thinking.

Forest Walker: Welcome to Aeclectic Tarot!
Of all minor arcana cards, I am partial to the 2 of Swords & in some decks.
DruidCraft's 2 of Swords is my favourite of all 2 of Swords. I got an especially detailed look at the card via a large scan of the card sent to me, the result of a mini-reading by a wonderful friend before she sent me the deck. It blew me away with a sense of familiarity & reminded me of two poems by Robert Frost, "The Road Not Taken" & "Stopping By Woods On a Snowy Evening". Also Henry Wadsworth Longfellow's epic poem, "Evangeline" which begins:
" THIS is the forest primeval. The murmuring pines and the hemlocks,
Bearded with moss, and in garments green, indistinct in the twilight,
Stand like Druids of eld, with voices sad and prophetic..."
Except there is no feeling of sadness, but of expectation.
The left hand portion of the card depicts a path through woods--one of two paths depicted in the card--& eerily similar to a painting of mine from many years ago. (Sorry, do not have the means to scan the card & the painting to show the similarity.) I felt the figure in the card facing the forest as me, meditating. I love the outdoors & woodland areas. The most remarkable effect of the card is looking at it seems to prompt a shift into a mediative mode.

Forest Walker ~ I am glad you enjoy the DruidCraft so much.
The 4 swprds in this deck is a lot easier to connect with than in most decks !
Cards I connected with immediately are the ace of pentacles (bear is one of my totem animals), 6 of swords (a card that comes up for me regularly, as I have to cross a sea to get to the places I love most), the princess of cups and princess of pentacles (I think I am a combination of both), and the king of pentacles (that card just says "comfortable at home" to me).
I really love this deck, it is not a "sweet" deck but neither is it scary or upsetting, it inspires me to look at what is needed and take action - for me, just what tarot should do :)

I am so glad you started this thread Forest Walker, as I have had my Druidcraft for about a week now and I feel a deep connection to it. It is, I think, the 7th deck I own (or maybe the 8th) but it is the first deck where, so far, I have not looked blankly at the cards during a reading. Granted, I have only done daily one card readings so far, just to get acquainted, but as opposed to previous decks, those one card readings have been incredibly accurate and insightful and have already led me to deeper understandings of many of the cards.
The artwork is incredible and the scenes are very peaceful and rooted in nature. I think the whole deck encourages a sense of "belonging".
The 4 of Swords in the Druidcraft is an interesting card but as yet, it hasn't appeared for me so I can't offer much insight into it. Have you asked yourself why you think that card is so significant for you?
Also check out the Druidcraft study group...I have been lurking but not yet posting there. Some very interesting discussions going on.

Forest Walker, with your name I am not surprised you felt such recognition at the sight of a man thinking in the natural armchair of a tree...
I have also had a few jolts with this deck - and they seem to be getting more frequent! Like MeeWah I was instantly drawn to the 2 of Swords - and thought of Robert Frost. I actually chose it as a basis for a reading that became very interesting and deep (I posted it here). Another is the Ace of Cups, which is quite astonishing - the crescent moon, the antique-looking cup from which a spring flows over rounded rocks, the salmon leaping up the torrent, the hazel framing the water and bringing forth three nuts, the tiny blue flowers - forget-me-nots? - in the bottom right-hand corner - this card is so layered I can barely begin to describe it.
A reading recently done for me showed the High Priestess paired with the Moon: two scenes, but the same landscape seen from different sides - and I had the impression of seeing my soul laid out in images before me...(the HP is my soul card).
But the card that gave me - and still does give me - the greatest jolt is Cernunnos. He came up in the first reading I mention above and was the lynchpin of it. But even before I saw him in the reading I was drawn to it - something shivers and opens inside me when I look at that huge half-man half-beast presiding over the glade where two lovers sleep after lovemaking, somewhere between light and darkness...

I just got my deck Friday and last night laid it all out in the circle on page 12? and am very drawn to the Princess of Cups, 6 of Pentacles and The Hermit. I laid the 3 of them by my bed last night too and had some really weird dreams;) Thinking back now, I do like many Princess of Cup cards especially the one from my Spiral as well and I've always been drawn to the Hermits. Can't wait to work more with this deck!

I just got my deck today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I haven't had a chance to lay out the cards yet as I am still at work and I can just imagine the look on client's faces as they walk into the office amd I'm sitting on the floor with cards every where but I can't wait to get home tonight and play. I am most drawn to the Moon in any deck and I have (breifly) examined the Druidcraft Moon card and it just screams at me with it's base primordial message. I have no other way to really explain it. But it just seems to be draped in the mystery of the night.

Thank you, Cielo, for the picture. I don't have this deck. This thread has made me interested in the Druid Craft. I think I may have dismissed it earlier, but I don't know why. Maybe there just weren't enough photos at that time.
Forest Walker, I'm glad you have experienced finding a card that really relates to or matches you.
The card for me is the Page of Wands in Tarot of the Cat People, my first deck. Since then I tend to like the Page of Wands in other decks, too. There are other favorites I have because of the artwork. It's mostly a case of me thinking, "This card is sooo beautiful!"
