I didn't know that we could do this. I tried to let all of you out-there surrealists know that there are Salvador Dali Tarot Decks on Overstock.com for $60.00 American. I don't know how many are left, but well I've lost too much sleep with the creepy hardbound book that originally came with the Deck in 1988 to look for you.
Some of you who are still looking go grab one- go there.
Hope this helps.
P.S. I don't work for Overstock but they are a Utah company and our economy stinks right now. So order something would y'all or come and ski or next year come to Sundance or something or other (we're not all weirdos here [just me]), but they give me neat medicine. he-he

w00t! Thanks for the tip! $60 is still a chunk of change, but my dream of finding a Universal Dali at a rummage sale has not come true yet... :P
By "creepy hardbound book" are you referring to the Rachel Pollack book? If so, what do you find creepy about it? I'm just curious, as I have that book.

I just got a message from someone else who tried to order this deck. Maybe you should wait because I am not sure he ordered it from Overstock.com and he got cheated. I do know of one sealed deck for Dali at a place here in Utah. Let me clairify OStock is usually reputable so I don't think that it was them that frauded.
Yes, it is the Rachael Pollock hardbound book. I usually like surrealistic art even if it is disturbing. But, Dali and especially this Deck really plays the Devil with my psyche for some reason. I do know that he was believed dead and someone found him living in an abandoned building in N.Y.(?) in the 1980's. He was suffering from schizophrenia which I think is so apparent in his work.
Funny because I keep thinking that a Frida Kahlo Deck would be cool and yet the only card I think that would fit for The Tower would be the Suicide of Dorothy Hale painting. Her stuff is disturbing too.
But Dali wigs me for some reason.
By the way do you know how I could get my paws on any more of these hardbound books. I scored one for the Enchanted Tarot and like to collect the books more than the Decks. Are they all done with the Decks and sold together?
Love your Aeclectic Name by the way Laura borealis. Clever, Clever ;-).

Thank you for the warning... it seems, after a consultation with my finances, that I have to wait anyhow. Maybe the universe is telling me to wait for that rummage sale. :)
I have never heard that about Dali -- the believed dead, found in NY part. I know his wife Gala died in the early 80s and he pretty much turned into a hermit after that. He couldn't paint at that point either, because his hands shook too much. He was also injured in a fire in the mid-80s, and never really regained his health. But as far as I know, he was in Spain, living in his castle, for his last decade or so.
I love his work, I've seen a lot of it in person and it awes me to pieces.
I got my Dali book through www.alibris.com. I suggest combing used bookstores and sites... that is how I have found my best tarot books. :)

I use Albiris a bit for ordering. Have had good luck. Don't send out the jury yet on OStock until I verify. I have never heard of a problem with them and have PM'ed the person to make sure it was them. I know that the Dali usually costs around $100 so $60 is a great deal! I'll let you know as soon as our Aeclectic buddy affirms if they were the culprit.
I wonder how much of what we read about artists is really just urban legend (like what I read and wrote) or real fact sometimes.

I found another couple of threads about Overstock.com. Plus the other person here said that they were not the culprit in their Dali Deck fiasco. It was an auction item on another service.
Happy Tarot shopping!
