I hope this is in the right forum. If it's not, please move it moderators but I didn't want to put in chat since I'm not sure if this should go in it.
What are they and how do they differ from tarot/oracle decks?

Well I have the Madame Endora's Fortune Cards.
They are the only ones I have, so I don't know if it is the same for all fortune cards...But the main difference I can see between this deck and Tarot and Oracle cards, is that they tell you the message (the asnwer to your problem) in words on the card. So basically you get the main message from words, not the image. Even though the image can flesh it out a bit.
Here is the link so you will see what I mean:

For example on this page...

Actually it is my only fortune deck. So maybe someone else can tell you if this is common to all fortune decks. I only know this one, but I can say it has been very accurate for me. And of course that I love the artwork or I would not have bought it. LOL
I use it when want a "quicky". I tend pull it out when I don't have time or feel too tired for a full reading but want to know what's up. I can pull a card for advice and a few seconds later have an idea of where I am going. No fuss, no muss, no analysing unless you feel like it. But you still have the answer, even if analysing it would of course give you more detail....
hope this helps,
Bar.

I wasn't looking for a specific deck but I just knew there was a difference so thank you Sulis and SunChariot.

Sorry Mike wasn't trying to talk you into my deck. LOL It was the only fortune deck I know and I had nothing to compare it to. :-) And I just sent you the link, and the following ones to show you this distinct characterisitic in action...:-)
But your question did make me curious. I did some research this morning, and now I am more sure than ever of my original answer though. I checked out 5 or 6 Fortune decks (including Tea Leaf Fortune Cards: http://www.learntarot.com/ttdesc.htm and a bunch of others) and they all have the same characteristic that neither Tarot or Oracles have.
It seems Fortune cards print the card's message/meaning (not just it's title but its message) in words on the front of each card. So now I am quite sure that is the main characteristic that makes a fortune deck a fortune deck.
Well that makes 3 different kinds of divination cards now. I wonder if anyone has heard of a 4th or 5th type? :-)

PS, You're welcome. :-)
