Hi.
My S/O got this at ebay this morning for me. _it has no book or box_ any ideas how to get a book, or did it even come with a book?
(They will be shipping it out to me tomorrow sometime.)
I did a 'Search', but didn't find out much that I didn't already know about it_except about a book, that is!
Thank you!

*
The book has been found and ordered.
Thank you, anyway!

Gerbear  03 May 2005
The Granny Jones Tarot is a boxed set with book and deck,

smokey  03 May 2005
Yes, I know, thank you;Gerbear; but all he had at ebay were the cards only_ for sale, (that's why he mentioned "no box or book" with purchase.)
...Bill has since found me the book at Amazon and ordered it..
It takes ~about a month, however, to arrive.
Oh, well, that's fine! I'll be delighted to have just the deck when it arrives this week!

I've never even heard of this one!

Got a link so as I can have a look at what it looks like?

That's so cute!
Them 'cats from the back'! Lovely.

Thanks for the link.

Why do I never think to look properly? Doh!

FantasyWorld  03 May 2005
I have just the book...ordered it from BN one day way back when thinking I was getting the cards and alas only the book showed up:(

MeeWah  03 May 2005
Smokey: Congratulations!

The free-spirited artwork has a unique charm all its own.

FantasyWorld: Some listings are ambiguous; hard to determine if a deck or a book.

Forget the deck name now, but it was listed as a "hardback"! Must have been a mistake.

Yes, that's quite true. I ordered the Faeries Oracle one day from Alibris not sure what it included. It turned out to be the set in that case:)

Thank you, MeeWah!
FantasyWorld, that is SO Not Fair! but I know just how you must have felt, that's happened to me in the past, too!
You know_ usually I've just never been a "cutesy deck" sort/type ...But...(shrugs) this one was my exception to that rule!

smokey  12 May 2005
My Granny Jones Australian Tarot has arrived!
I'm so happy!
...(along with some great smelling incense and a certificate of authenticity
with the deck)...
I'm a bit bewildered about the creator's name, though, being it's completly different than what my search found, _(which was one Rebecca Jones)_
Oh well _ I'm too excited to have the Real author & psychic's signature to worry about any error I may have un-earthed, LOL!
Now to go update/edit my user profile, and do my first readings with these wonderful cards!!!

calum1980  12 May 2005
The granny jones australian tarot was the first deck I ever had (with book and box). I gave it to my friend a few years ago and I kind of wish I hadn't. Does that sound bad? I don't think she's ever used it and the last time I saw it it looked really tatty and the book was nowhere to be seen. This deck taught me so much, but in the end I started to think it was too childish for me. I thought I'd concentrate on more "serious" decks. What an idiot! I also gave away my lord of the rings deck to someone who kept insisting on getting her deck of only major arcana cards out to do readings. It just really annoyed me. Maybe I'm a snob but I just don't think you can do a reading with 22 cards.

smokey  13 May 2005
Oh no, you don't sound snobbish to me, at all!
Everbody has different opinions, and prefer a variety of numerous cards, that's all!
(Now, take my two girls, for instance)...
They prefer oracles because_ "There are 'less' cards to deal with!"... (as they tell me), yet_ I know My daughters, LOL; and they are just being,(ahem) a bit lazy, aha!
Actually, I "PreFer" a 78 card deck myself to do any type of in depth or lengthy reading, but my S/O had a chance to get this deck for me, and add it to my humble collection!
(I'm sorry you gave yours away, BTW, maybe fate will be kind to you again?)
Wow! (To think this was your very first deck!)..Awesome!... (not childish_ IMO~) But_it IS!...the only "cute" one I own!
*Sorry, but it doesn't sound as if your friend is taking care of this deck at all! IMHO,this is one of those that deserve a bit of 'Special' ( kind+ gentle) attention!
So, I was thinking...could you mayhaps mention some sort of a "trade" arrangement, hmm...to try and get it back? Aww, come on! What do you say?(Sounds like she's tired of it already, and I'll stop right there, before I get in over my head, LOL!)
In fact, I'm SO pleased with this particular deck_ I feel I must say again that it deserves a lot of the affection that was So "Obviously" put 'Into' its creation During the process!

calum1980  13 May 2005
Actually, after I posted last night I realised I probably wont be able to get the granny jones deck again and I dont really want the neglected deck back without the book. But I thought I could buy the lord of the rings deck again. When I looked on the internet it seems to be virtually going out of print, so I went to a bookstore where my friend works and she said they had one last deck so now I've got it back and at a great price because she got me a discount: £8.75, $16.22 US. I know it's slightly off the subject but it's just something I'm happy about, and if you hadn't posted about the granny jones deck then I might never have got my LOTR back. So thank you.

smokey  14 May 2005
You're Very welcome.
Re, LOTR.
Really? This is news to me! Then I'm even happier than EVER that I was able to RE-gain my own LOTR back right here from a sale! (whew)
As mentioned earlier, I'm having a rather lengthy wait myself on a seperate order from Amazon for my Granny Jones book, but I don't mind that so much_ ( for the cards alone are keeping me quite amused,LOL!)

dolphingirl  15 May 2005
Gosh I am sooo jealous, The Granny Jones deck has been at the top of my want list for years. It is the one deck that I feel really speaks to me and until this post i was beginning to think that there was only one made lol.

Congratulations on your find!
