Thanks to my perfect son - well today he is LOL - I am now the proud possessor of Tarot of the Trance. Just love it (and Mother's Day LOL). Does anyone know whether their is a book that goes with it ... or any books on trance art?

I paint ... and find it a 'trance-like' experience, but I don't normally read about art.

Well, Happy Mother's Day! That's a nice gift! I'm glad your son was able to find you something different. You have alot of decks. I bet he needs your list so he doesn't get you repeats.
Here are scans of the deck:

And a review:

The review says it comes with a little booklet. If you don't have that, maybe you could write to US Games to get one.
It looks like a happy, intricate deck to me. It looks like it would feel like having a little museum in your hands!

I have seen this deck out and about and have toyed with the idea of getting it. It seems a bit chaotic. Have you done a reading with it yet? What is it like to work with?

Congratulations on your new deck, mythos! :)

I have the Tarot of the Trance, also, and I love the imagery. So far as I can find, it only comes with the LWB. I like primitive and trance art--in decks and otherwise--although I'm not a painter. Do you have other "primitive" decks that you like? I received the Tarot of the Four Elements for Yule, and love the majors. I also like the Shining Tribe (especially for spiritual readings) and I'm getting acquainted with the African Tarot and the Napo. The Tarot of the Trance seems more like a Grateful Dead concert sort of trance, and in that way seems similar to the Cosmic Tribe deck. I don't read with it often, but when I do I like the joyous, childlike quality that comes through. It's a good deck for giving encouragement, and for helping one live in the moment.

I'll be interested to see how you like reading with it.

I do have the LWB ... I was hoping for something more ... being an obsessive reader LOL. I just love the artwork ... particularly the primitive trancy feel. Grateful Dead type trance feels about right, and reminds me of a few experiences of the early 'Dead' era with mushrooms and such like.

As far as reading with it goes ... I have been using it for my dailies ... but haven't done a full reading with it yet. I had to stop and ask myself whether my reading of any particular card was related to my 'known' meanings, or evoked by the imagery. Hard to say. This morning was two of swords reversed ... and I already knew that it was about finally getting my new glasses ... I have been struggling with an old pair for ordinary seeing, and my Dad's piano-music-reading glasses for reading for two and a half weeks. Neither that suitable ... all stressful, and I have been waiting for this situation to become 'unstuck.'

Given the 'communication' aspect with swords as well, and my current painting project ... it has been difficult to communicate anything visually when I haven't been able to see properly. So, it was particularly apt. The question though is, did I get that from the card imagery or not. Maybe ... because my current project suits the imagery of the deck ... maybe not ... because of that instant knowing that comes from working with the cards for years. I suspect, though, that, no matter the deck, I automatically visualise the Waite-Smith card. This is the deck that I use most for readings.

Thanks for the links, too. It is always good to read what others have to say ... whether you agree with it or not LOL. Often, I get to see decks in a whole new way.

I haven't really been looking at trancy type cards ... except the Navigator's of the Mystic Sea ... but I am tempted to look. Problem is, my 'want' list is already so very long, if I start looking further a field it will just increase further LOL.
