Okay...here's something a bit more challenging for the senses....I create a Chocolate Tarot..but you need something to wash Chocolate down....so how about Coffee...yes you have to keep that sugar/caffiene hyper level steadily above danger and never let it drop........

whose up with the challenge of if you were to create a Tarot based on Coffee...what would you use for the suits??

I think if the copyright could be obtained.....the nice columbian man with his donkey would work as the Fool's card......so many choices in coffee, where in the world to sample the best coffee

I'm not sure yet what I'd use for the suits, I'll have to think about it. But what about the woman in the Starbucks logo as the Empress?

Suits:
something more interesting than the obvious cups perhaps--but also,

Beans (for pents)
Spoons (for wands)

oooooooo.....that's a good idea...makes a good balance.....Come to think of it....Is Starbucks and columbian based coffee the only two "coffee logos using people"...and using her for the Empress....lol...Starbucks coffee is pretty strong ...lol

I don't know if you have this chain near you, but have you ever heard of 'Gloria Jean's Coffee Bean'? I'm not sure where Gloria Jean could fit in to this deck, but there's another person we could use.

For cups, I think of those little 'one serving' milk cartons that you get in cafes.

Java...Tea...Chocolate... a trinity of caffiene! I'm enjoying the imagined taste of your ideas.

Here's a silly take:
The perfect merge of spirit of caffiene includes the dairy of experience...in fact the fusing of lighter spirit of milk (cups) with the practical grounding of coffee (pentacles) and the energy (wands) of sugar. Pop in the mental sword stirrer to make this brew complete! This as it should be....

Cafe au lait.

Sicilian Coffee - Espresso with a dash of chocolate syrup. A mixture of bitter and sweet would make a perfect devil, in my opinion:)

I don't know the age-range in this group so far, but Mrs. Olson from the Folgers Coffee commercials might be a good Empress. She was always coming to people's houses and serving them coffee and saving their marriages and such. :)

P.S. I love Gloria Jean's!

Would the Emperor be the coffee bean broker standing in the warehouse surrounded by burlap sacks and sacks of product?

Make sure to put in chocolate coated coffee beans too, and espressos & cappichinos. AND the espresso maker machine (the World card?).

How about the Starbucks lady as the High Priestess (she has an aura of mystery/magic about her, IMO), and have a barista as the Empress..(the creator and provider of the drinks).

The Starbucks lady, like the High Priestess, is not a tangible person.. and yet she is a presence which many have come to associate with Starbucks and coffee in general.. while baristas are more mundane.. people we encounter on an everyday basis..their very job is to create and provide.. a lot of skill and art goes into making the perfect latte or cappuccino..and in the end they hand their creation over to us..a gift for us to enjoy and help us through our day.

And what about that guy.. the mexican guy with the poncho and the donkey.. seen in the commericals handing the can of coffee to the housewife through the window.. Juan 'something'.. what could he be? One thought is the 6 of Pentacles.. generosity, sharing, giving to those who are in need.. (of the perfect cup of coffee :) )

There you go! I remember them! Wasn't the man Anthony Stewart Head, who plays Rupert Giles on the TV show Buffy the Vampire Slayer?

Okay, did some checking. It was Taster's Choice coffee (if I'm thinking of the one you're thinking of) and the man was played by Anthony Stewart Head.

Instant coffee for the Devil.

That chicory coffe from DuMonde's in New Orleans as Death....because it would be easy to OD on that stuff. Is there a place for bengeits (sp?) or perhaps dunkers like biscotti?

ooooooo...Du Monde and Beignet's.......that is death.....or worse yet....the Devil......you can buy Du Monde Beignet's from most stores or even order it online...just like buying them......

Coffee Menu for 10 of wands perhaps?? so many choices...lol

WalesWoman  30 Jun 2005
Which card would be...

"Good 'til the last drop" ... 10 Pents?

"Wake up and smell the coffee" - Judgment?

The warning on take away coffee cups... Caution: Contents are HOT!" (since the Devil's already been taken) 7 Swords? or Knight Wands?

Empty coffee pot- 3 Swords

Out of coffee/ Major holiday and no stores are open - 10 Swords

Driving down bumpy road with cup of coffee between legs, only two passengers out of 5 have lids - 5 Cups

Mocha latte'- Queen Cups

Cowboy Coffee (toss the grounds in a pot and boil away)- King Pents

International Coffee's "Share the moments of your life" 9 Cups

Half the Caf' (Folgers)- 5 Swords

Folger's Crystals- Magician

Maybe I should change 4 Cups to what my coffee cup looks like right now, it needs a good washing after using the same one for the past 3 days. Uck! Time for a new one.
