Does anyone have this book? If so, what do you think of it? I bought it and I'm not sure. There are categories for different topics..some of them seem a little "fortune-cookie-ish". I was just wonder ing what someone else's experiences were with this book.
thanks,
destiny

i have it but don't really like it that much. it seems like a recipe book of a variety of meanings for each card. i really rather use my intuition than get elaborate w/ someone telling me how to think or read tarot. however, from what i've heard, the readers for miss cleo love it and miss garen is suing them! there may be an old link about it somewhere here.

well a funny story brought this question about.
I was doing a reading for someone over the internet. He wanted to know if he had a chance with this girl who his friends tell him she's married. (but he didn't think so by the way) And also he hadn't talked to her in years. Immediately I thought...mmmm I don't think this is going to work, but decided to clear my mind of judgements and throw some cards anyway. I remember the advice card was the Ten of Wands. I went blank. That little voice inside pointed me over to the bookshelf of numerous books...and for some reason I picked Tarot Made Easy....jsut out of curiousity, I looked at the ten of wands page, the first topic I looked at (don't remember which one) said, "Don't waste your time on impossible relationships." It kind of blew me away because I've never really found a meaning in that book that I felt suited the reading. Or the meanings haven't suited the reading as well as my own.

I recently bought this book because of the good reviews that it got. To be honest though, although there are some good points in it I much prefer seventy eight degrees of wisdom, and The Tarot Revealed.
Generally I found that I disagreed with the interpretations (which may suit others but not me).

I have had a discussion or two with Nancy Garen herself (on her website) about this. I feel that the concept behind why she created the book is Great! She has a lot of experience and wanted to create a book that could help people understand the 'levels' of meaning that a single tarot card can have. From that standpoint she did a marvelous job.
I tell beginners NOT to buy this book- that they should wait until the have some basis to start from and then use the book as 'reference' when a particular card getrs 'stuck' in a reading.
The system presented in the book is anything but 'Easy', and very confusing for a beginner. WAY TOO MUCH INFORMATION! It also is much too 'cookie cutter' in style; it tells you that you don't have to learn anything, merely do a layout, take a subject from the clients' question and look up the cards!
Is it any wonder Garen has the lawsuit against Miss Cleo, accusing Cleo's 'readers' of merely doing this exact thing?

I bought this book when I was starting out (recommended to me by a friend) ... needless to say it was shelved 2 weeks later and replaced with Tarot for Yourself by Mary Greer. All these years later I still work with Tarot for Yourself and have a shelf full of Tarot books, Ms. Garen's book however I gave away ...

78 degrees and Tarot for Yourself are great....I would reccomend both. I prefer 78D oW but that's my humble opinion.
