Tarot shops in London?

Greetings.
My best friend is going to London in a few days, and we are wondering where she can find shops that sell tarot decks, books etc. If you know of other 'alternative' shops this would be interesting too! If you know of any, please post the address to the shop. Thanx in advance. :)

Hi, Aeonx!

I used to live in London but haven't been back recently. There certainly were plenty of "occult" shops there then and I'm sure there still are - just maybe not in the same places!

I've brought up some details on the Net that might interest you. However, the list is obviously quite old and it might be worth ringing first. The Central London telephone codes changed perhaps a year or so ago - if you see 0171 (inner or Central London), you need to replace it with 0207 (and outer London is 0208 instead of 0181). I don't know how well your friend knows London, so I have limited it to the sort of places they might go. A WC postcode translates as "West Central", "WE" is "West End", "SW" is "South West" etc. I have included one near Kew because of Kew Gardens and Camden Lock of course covers Camden Market which a lot of people enjoy. The others seem to be within easy striking distance of the British Museum (the place I REALLY miss!). There's a link at the end that talks you through a very easy walk, which I thought you might find useful. Just shout if you think of anything else!

I get to London 3 or 4 times a year and I always make the rounds checking out new stock at the stores. Of the shops that LouiQ mentioned, Watkins probably has the best selection of cards. The shop is on a narrow side alley about a block south of Leicester Square (heading towards Trafalgar Square). It's not open on Sundays, so you'll have to go mid-week or on Saturday. The Tarot section is downstairs and the staff is very friendly.

Atlantis has a decent selection, but nothing too rare or out of the ordinary, but they do have a good selection of out of print books on Tarot. And since it's only a half block from the British Museum, it's a good stop while doing your touring (you must go see the Elgin Marbles and the Rosetta Stone while you're in the neighborhood!).

Mysteries Bookstore gets new stock frequently, so they're good to check out. Tottenham Court is the tube station closest to them. You have to look carefully, the shop is easy to miss while walking down the street!

There are also three or four vendors at the Camden Locks market in Camden Town who sell decks, including a couple of deck designers who will be happy to show you their works in progress. And again, I think Camden Town is a must when visiting London. Especially if you like shopping for shoes!

Oh yes, and there's also a really cool astrology-themed pub and restaurant called the 12th House. It's on Pembridge Road near the Notting Hill tube. Lots of metaphysical types hanging out here every night of the week, and the food's not half bad either. I've often traded readings here with others.

Greetings all!
Thanx so much for responding. I will immediately copy these addresses and send them to my friend.

I don't know what I would have done without the Aeclectic! I just have to face it... I'm an addict! :D
