Re: Liliana's signature,
"If you keep your deck in a Crown Royale bag, you might be a redneck Tarot Reader"
Would you believe that just last week I took home a Crown Royal bag when cleaning out the lost and found at my job -- thinking "Why shucks, I'll do that there fancy Llewellyn $13 bag one better!"
Where have you people been all my life, anyway?
:D

I too, was VERY amused by Liliana's signature for several reasons. Let me explain, I am a bartender
in a town full of rednecks and I keep my cards in
a Crown Royal (Reserve, more like velvet instead
of like felt) bag. But I am not a redneck, but I do wear cowboy boots. I have a bunch of these felt
CR bags, I end up using them to take home my tips
on a really good night. Any one want one ?

Hi all,
Crown Royal is a Canadian whiskey. It comes in a purple velvet bag. Here's the web site where you can view the bag:
http://www.crownroyal.com
Most rednecks that I know don't drink Crown Royal...they think it is too upiddy (arrogantly high class). :-)

I echo your statement "where have you people been all my life?": the minute I found this site I felt so shocked: amazing how many kindred spirits are out there in the universe!
Re: the Crown Royale bags- I'm sure tons of us would like one, so if they are available, let us trade or ?? for them
(love Liliana's sig)

I should have mentioned that the rednecks in my
town drink the stuff like water, that's part of
the reason why I have so many bags. In fact, last night I had to crack open a new bottle of Crown. I don't know about wiskey, I won the grand prize at our customer appriciation celebration, a bottle of Crown Reserve. One of the redneck elders swears by
it, says it won't give ya' a hang over. I will stick to my Hornitos.
I have rummaged up 3 bags so far, I'll find more
as I unpack.

Hi
I have always wanted one of these bags since I first heard of them, but since I am a tea totaler have not been able to get one if you get any extras please give me a holler. Although for xmas a friend of my boyfriends parents gave us a fancy set of pancake batter that came in a cloth bag and I yelled "Oh WOW A TAROT BAG GREAT!!!!" at which point I dumped the pancake batter out (with out giving it a second thought) and ran to show everyone my new bad. (I still don't understand why everyone laughed at me :(

Hehe unfortunately, I carry my cards in a Crown Royal bag, but I never wanted to admit to it since some think it's Tarot taboo! They are the perfect size! And it's free, it has some history behind it so I figured what would be a better bag for my Tarot cards than this? Besides I thought rednecks drink moonshine! (j/k)
Like someone said before, Crown is a little to high class for a real redneck, trust me I'm from Arkansas...we've got the best of them all.

i've used crown royal bags for my tarot cards and other things for years b/c hubby is a devoted crown royal drinker. he's not a redneck either. ;) around here, most rednecks prefer beer or wild turkey or jack daniels. crown royal is smoother. when i was a teenager we had an inside joke that rednecks wore white underwear shirts as their good clothes, white socks with loafers and drank pabst blue ribbon beer. it was amazing how often this was true! it was a good litmus test on figuring out who not to date, too!! LOL
once i mentioned casually on another site that i didn't buy expensive tarot bags b/c i had a solid stock of crown royal bags. WOW! what a negative response! the other posters kind of went off and said i was "harming the vibrations" of my cards. that my cards were picking up the influences of the spirits of alcohol and that would render my card interps as ineffective. i was in effect "getting my cards drunk". blah! blah! blah! at the time i was more impressionable so i quickly salvaged my decks from those horrid bags. now i've since decided that if i clear the bags before using them then they are no better or worse than any other bag.
btw, i love the redneck jokes by jeff foxworthy, too. his autobiography was so funny. i loved the pranks he and his friends used to pull on each other like seeing who they could make throw up or riding down the road mooning ppl. some of the things he says is so true, too. particularly the contests men have about breaking their best time to get places and refusing to take bathroom breaks while traveling. my hubby still likes to brag about the great time he and a buddy made b/c they peed in a bottle and only stopped to buy gas. when we go on trips he really hates it when i insist on stopping b/c i mess up his "time". geez! i wish he'd get a life! his equipment doesn't work like mine as if he has to be told! LOL :D :D :p :p

Since I got my first tarot deck about 2 years ago.. (I never grew with tarot it was definately taboo)..I am 21 now..I have kept it in a crown royal bag..I live in Michigan, but I am from West Virginia..I am glad I am not the only one..I would not take the bag with me when I went out because some of the people would think I was crazy enough with tarot let alone a drinker because of the bag..

I agree that some of the books and people get way too caught up in the
little details and act as if dealing with tarot cards or things used in rituals
is like keeping a kosher kitchen.
Also- those people are often the misguided souls willing to shell out $30.00
for a small spell box, or other ridiculous amounts for similar items that can be found to hand so easily. There are sev. catalogs that cash in hugely on these
people's belief that the more you pay, the more 'authentically magic' it is.
Thanks for sharing that- I forgot how snobbish some can get, and I'm so glad I've not found that here.

A member of my family occasionally drinks Crown Royal so the few bags he has are hung onto by him for RPG dice & other things.
I have only been able to beg one measly bag from him.
Like Truthsayer, have had it criticized. The first remarks usually consist of "I didn't know you drank".
It is perfect in every way as a Tarot bag, & I do take it out of the house as it usually serves as the "travel bag" for cards.
Liliana: Your sig is cute. Have wondered if it referred to all them redneck jokes.
I like Jeff Foxworthy, too. He has an unerring instinct for his subject.
There is a high population of rednecks locally but have not known of any who go for Crown Royal. It is considered upscale/pricey & there is far cheaper alcohol to do the same job--such as beer, MD 20 (MadDog), & other rot-gut stuff.

I've never seen Crown Royal whiskey here in the UK but my husband is a whiskey drinker so I might ask him if he knows of the brand and if so could he get a bottle so I can have the bag lol :)

Right, I gotta get me one of those bags... But I'm in the UK!! How much does the whiskey and bag cost? What I was considering is sending somebody who could buy one the money for it, and let them keep the whiskey, cuz iI can't drink the stuff, and getting them to just send me the bag....

I'm gonna ask my husband (a scotch drinker, usually) to get some Royal Crown. If it's expensive, maybe for our anniversary in May, and I can get a bag too. Hehe, hehe.

What fun this forum is!
The other night I had a few cosmopolitans and was definitely overserved. The next day I was feeling quite poorly and a friend asked if I would do a 3 card reading for her. I felt so guilty handling my cards when I was in such a deteriorated state! Thank goodness she had a good reading.
Hmmm wish there was such a thing as a Cosmopolitan bag, lol!
You definitely would not be a redneck, but you might be a prissy snob lol!

Not that I would EVER do a reading under the influence of alcohol.

O.K. I have returned from my trip to the city only to see that every one wants one of these bags. Instead of me PM everyone, I'll post this. PM me the info I need to get a bag to you. I will go down the list and send them out. I can get bags for EVERYONE eventually.
I should be able to talk my boss out of the bags from the next shippment we get. There will be 12 of these bags. Don't buy the wiskey if you are not going to drink it, it's expencive.
As I said I'LL HAVE BAGS FOR EVERYONE, it will just take time.

Lunafey, you rock our little corner of the web so hard. Jeez, now that I know how exciting Crown Royal bags are, I have a weird desire to collect them... one just doesn't seem like enough suddenly... and I'm not even a whiskey person really... Haven't you guys done enough already, amplifying my deck-collecting addiction to previously unknown heights (or lows)? :D
