An interesting Tarot event happened to me the the other day that was very "awakening". On the train home from work, I was reading "The Tarot of the Spirit" book by Pamela Eakins, as I am doing a weekly card-by-card study. In the book I had placed both my weekly card (The Star) and my train ticket.
However, having had a particulalry challenging day at work and a slight headache, I feel asleep on the train. When the conducter jolted me awake so that he could check my train ticket, instead of handing him my train ticket, in my half-asleep state I (mistakingly?) handed him the Tarot card instead! He looked at the card, then turned it over, and was quite puzzled! I soon realized my mistake, and exchanged the Tarot card with the train ticket
This got to me thinking... what an interesting way to expose others to Tarot, by randomly giving a Tarot card to someone, or placing a Tarot card where someone would run across it. Random Acts of Tarot!
Leave a Tarot card with the tip at a restaurant. Place one in a cubicle at the Library, or by the water cooler at work, or in the waiting room at the doctors. Put a tarot card in a suggestion box.
Now I am not suggesting giving away the cards from your favorite decks, but perhaps make color copies, or use cards from an old or less favorite deck. You could write on the back of the card the name of the deck, a good Tarot book or website (like Aeclectic!).
Make someone's day a Tarot day!

I'm kind of glad that I didn't hand him the Devil or Death cards, though! })
What is interesting is that one of the insights I had gained from my studies on the Star card was that we all are Stars within. Our bodies are made from material that were generated by Stars. One needs only to look within to realize the spark of Light that has always been part of you, that has always been your guiding Light.
So just as I was suddenly awakened by the conducter to show my ticket (my "card" or "path"), perhaps this random unexpected encounter with the Star card jolted the conducter into a moment of reflection on what the Star means to him, and light a spark in him?...

I had someone try to break into my house a couple of months back, I considered taping one of the death cards from my decks onto the window of the back door they tried to force open but none of the decks I had at that time had a scary enough death card lol - I wondered what the thiefs reaction would have been to be confronted with a tarot death card lol :)

I think the Medieval Scapini Death is really creepy... }) Then again, it was my first deck so it probably made a big impression because of that...

Mmmm...I sometimes give a card to someone who is having a dificult time...just to help them focus...I don't give them a Tarot card but give a European card from one of the many playing decks depicting the suits as in the lesser Arcana, cups, coins etc I usually give them an ACE...meaning primal force, power..my Tarot cards are toooo precious (sound a bit like Gollum there)..:TFOOL

Strange2: The "random acts of Tarot" is a fascinating idea!
It is truly inspired--by The Star, no doubt. One of its qualities is that of inspiration; firing the imagination.
I also like your correlation of a microcosm in a macrocosm. Or vice versa.

I think Ive heard of someone who does this, and writes a brief meaning forthe card on the back, this would be good to do with a minature waite deck, since everyone knows the Rider Waite deck on sight

Original Destiny: I like your idea, too.
These "European" decks you refer to--are they regular playing cards with pictures on the pip cards? They sound interesting.

I sent an e-card to a friend of mine the other day of the Star, gave her a lift and helped her through the day.
But now I can't remember the site i found the cards on!!

fundamentalists have been leaving around literature to push their agenda for years!! this sounds like an excellent way to strike back w/ our side of the story. i was walking down this street minding my business one morning last week when this guy literally forces a can of tea in my hands and starts asking me all these personal questions about my religious beliefs. i wasn't feeling like rabid towards christians at the moment so i agreed w/ everything he said and went on my merry way. i wonder what he would have thought if when he forced that can in my hand if i had forced a tarot card in his??? :p i'd love to see his face if i did that. LOL but then he'd probably would have started preaching and i would have gotten cranky...NOT GOOD.

I LOVE this idea! I might just make some colour copies of favourite cards and stick in my purse for suitable occasions. I guess most of them will get lost, but maybe some of them rise thoughts and reflection - and that would be worth SO much! I'm basically jumping up and down with excitement here - why didn't I think of this before?!
Thank you for sharing the story and the idea!
Light and love,
Jenny :)
PS: so if any of you ever come to Stockholm and find a Star-card tucked into the back of the bus seat in front of you, or into the tooth pick-stand on the restaurant - then you know who's been there...! *mwwhhahahahhh* }) :D

What a wonderful story and idea. :)
Has anyone else ever noticed what someone unfamiliar with tarot does when confronted with the Hanged Man? })

I had sent a copy of my FACT card to a friend of mine and she had asked me if this card was especially designed to scare the guts out of someone? Guess I'd better stick to good ol' RW to pass it around to others ;)
