Bill Butler's _Dictionary of the Tarot_ is always good. It lists different interpetations by different folk including Waite and Crowley.

Mary Greer wrote the "Complete Book of Reversals". Her book "Tarot for Yourself" is being re-released supposedly with some new information.
For the more 'magickal' type of books I really like "The Tarot- A Key to the Wisdom of the Ages" by Paul Foster Case and "Qabbalistic Tarot" by Robert Wang.

The finest and most indepth tarot book I've read to date is '78 Degrees of Wisdom' by Rachel Pollack. Its absolutely superb. No shallow, "slumber party" interpretations. Very intelligently written by a living legend of Tarot. Check it out. I'm currently reading an excellent book about tarot in relationship to the "Hero's Journey", or the development and evolution of the self. It is by Hajo Banzhaf, entitled 'Tarot and the Journey of the Hero'. It mainly approaches on the significance of the cards of the Major Arcana from a spiritual and psychological perspective. Perhaps not exactly what you are after, but really an excellent read.

here's another vote for 78 degrees of wisdom by rachel pollack. this book is responsible for igniting/fueling my passion for tarot, and will always be a "standard text" in my mind.
