I hope this is the right forum for this! Apologies if it's not.
I was wondering how many people have a "personal" tarot deck that they use only for readings on themselves and won't let anyone else touch. Mine is the Art Nouveau. I just really like having a deck that's for me alone. Is this normal?

It is normal to keep a deck just for your own readings - I have the Spiral, I've never done readings for anyone else with this deck although I could - I'm not a collector and only have 5 decks anyway but when I've done readings for other people, which is not too often, I've given them the choice of the Diamond, the Rider Waite or the Hanson Roberts. :)

I have an old Rider/Waite deck that I have owned for over 20 years. It is getting a bit worn now so I just use it for myself . I have replaced it with a Universal Waite Deck:TFOOL

My first which is also my favorite. At the moment I've got 2 decks and my first, the Mage deck, really is personal indeed. I guess this is also due to the fact that I don't do readings for others but in the end no one is to touch my Mage deck. The second, which I also use from time to time, is my Rider Waite deck and this one is "open to the public" so people can admire it if they want to.

Huh. I guess this is why I've almost never used my Robin Wood to give anyone else a reading. I feel too close to it; I have an intimacy with it; I want it all to myself. I guess I have a personal deck, then! :D

I can understand reserving one (or more) for yourself. I can even imagine that it could happen for me -- just because it's possible. But it's been since the '80's and hasn't happened yet.
I'm much more possessive about my Razor Point pens than I am about my decks. :)

My personal deck - the one used for me alone is the major arcana from the BOTA deck. I think a lot of people have a personal deck. :D

The only Tarot deck I reserve for personal use alone is my very old first deck, a Rider-Smith-Waite published by Samuel Weiser.
I have a newer one of the same published by US Games which I use for clients. Since it's not practical to maintain duplicates of all reading decks, the rest of the decks I read with are utilized for both personal & others' readings.

My Cosmic Tribe deck! for obvious reasons it is not a deck for everyone and could be offensive to some (nudity). I abosolutly love this deck and it speaks very clearly to me, it is also the one that I always carry with me regardless of where I go. I have done reading for my best friend with it and if she asks for me to read for her I will probably use that deck again (she loved it!), but she is a sister to me and someone I trust deeply. Other than that no one will ever touch my deck *LOL* ... The Wild Spirit may end up also being a personal deck.
The other deck I carry with me, is the Faery Oracle by Froud, but I am open to sharing this deck, it is too fun not to. My fiance will occassionally pull a card from this deck as well (I am trying to train him so he will support (or at least not complain about) my deck purchasing habit *LOL*).

i also have two decks. one, the vertigo tarot, is my main deck. i use it for readings, studies...etc. this is the one that goes with me everywhere i go.
the other deck, phantasmorgasmic theater deck, i use mainly for rituals, games and spell work. i found out with Tarot Spells, that it's good to have a second deck for when you cast spells as sometimes you need to keep the cards laid out for specific amounts of time.
blessed be,

My personal deck is the Sacred Circle (hi caitlyn!). I also keep my Robin Wood in my bag all the time. I don't know why though since I just use it for spells.

My most favorite, personal deck which I will never give up is the Motherpeace. This one I have both large and small, the small goes everywhere with me. No one touches it. The deck I read with is my new Nigel Jackson. I now no longer need a book to read with it, I love this deck, and so far everyone of my clients have loved it also. They still don't get to touch my Motherpeace=)
As a birthday resolution I decided to get rid of my Celtic tarot and Witches tarot and not use them, at least for right now. They have retired to the closet. My shoulder now thanks me!!!
