Hi folks,
What is more exciting/interesting for you: "hunting" for a new tarot deck or having it at last? What is more sport/fun for you?
I like finding out where to get a rare deck or one which I wanted for ages, the excitement to run to the letter box and see if IT is already expecting me when I come home from work in the afternoon and then, the moment when you open the pack, flip it thru and add it to the collection.

Well I can't say that I am big collector. I like to have that special deck to use for all things and having more than one sometimes confuses me.
Having said that though I do have several decks and they all scream for attention. Probably becuase I put so much consideration into their purchase.
I like to look out for decks that are a little more "off beat" than most. Most of the time that means that I have great troubles in actually locating a deck (see my post about the Hermetic tarot).
I don't really enjoy the "hunt", but I LOVE the opening of the new arrival. I have to sit there and flip through the deck for hours and day after day sometimes.
(Did the package arrive for you yet Catlin?)

The hunt. Definitely the hunt... Although the kill, when you finally get to open that box and pour throught the cards, and just sit and look and gasp and ooh and aah... That's a good bit too.

I love the hunt and the catch! :P
And the waiting for the new deck to arrive. And the feeling when you get the unopened package in your hands, then almost tearing it apart! Next holding the deck in your hands, looking through every single card, communicating with the whole deck! :)
I need to order from Amazon again soon, I do realize that... *s*

I love that too, Aeonx! If it doesn't happen for a while, I tend to get withdrawal symptoms...

Hunting, but not for rare, for deals
Nothing makes me happier than getting the 45 buck set for 9.98, or to be given a rare deck as a present totally out of the blue, or trading a book i dont need for a deck I do, or bidding within the last minute of an ebay auction making sure no one has a chance to bid after me. So much fun :)

Liliana: I very much agree with you! :D I haven't bought one single item on Amazon that wasn't on 'sale'! And I've been shopping quite much there. It's the same with everything, clothes especially. It's rare that I buy something for full price. And I love to haggle. *l* Can't wait till I get to Thailand. :P

You said it...
Unfortunately, I can't shop any more now before the summer. 'Incidents' have eaten a big hole in my economy, so I have to be wise with my money. Besides, I'm going to Thailand, and I don't want to risk being broke there. :)

i love the hunt period. doesn't matter if it's for a rare one or finding a bargain. a rare one that's a bargain is a huge thrill. while on the hunt, i can get so excited that i can stay up all night scanning sites. for some reason, hunting is more fun at night. i love trading, too. wheeling and dealing and getting a deck i want and giving one of mine to someone who's excited on the the other end at getting my trade. RAT--it works. going in for the kill at ebay in the last 10 minutes of an auction is also thrilling. one thing i have learned about ebay is the importance of paying attention to the time zones. i've lost a few by going by mine instead of ebay's. i hate it when a new deck immediately disappoints me. but it's priceless when i rip open the packaging and i fall in love w/ a deck. i love spending hours going thru a deck admiring it. then playing w/ it like a new toy for days. a cat playing around w/ a mouse for a long time before going for the kill comes to mind...heh heh. ;) but i definitely think the hunt is better than gathering or i wouldn't spend so much time hunting. my pulse is just racing thinking about this. good thing i don't have time to go to ebay or amazon right now. i definitely need to hold my hunting down to trades right now.

I'm definetly a gatherer *LOL*. When I want it, I want it NOW, I do not want to hunt or wait I want it NOW. I'm blessed with excellent "hunter" friends that support my "gathering" need that to date have ensured that I secure every deck I want. I am such a gatherer that I have been known at the last moment of a trade to just opt to buy the person I am trading with a new deck because I cannot part with mine after all! *LOL* ... now that is bad! I am getting better at that though, I think I have gathered so many that now I am becoming more discriminant (by more I only mean a little *LOL*). I love opening the decks, looking through them, reorganizing the shelves, when I do that I look through several of my other treasures and so on. I think I have finally officially lost count of how many decks I have with my latest acquisitions and trades *LOL*.

I like the hunting part of finding a tarot deck - Usually what starts it for me is I'll see a deck mentioned, go and have a look at a few of the cards, like what I'm seeing, try and hunt the rest of the deck down to have a look at - if I can't then I'll look again at the cards that are available and by then I usually know if I'll like the deck or not lol - non of my decks are real surprises I only have 7 and they are all Rider Waite clones lol The Celtic Dragon is a nice one as is the Robin Wood
I do have the quivers in the stomach as I open the decks in case I've made a real mistake and hate the cards on sight lol

I'm a bargain hunter, first and foremost. My wish list has become so ridiculously huge that I know it's going to take forever to acquire all the decks I want, and so I look for bargains of those, and also of decks that I think will be worth more as a trade than I am paying for them. I try to put my tarot-hunting energies into this in the vain hope that it will keep me from discovering new decks that I also want. The plot does not work, of course. })

Nope its in the 70's or 80's now! I need to update the list because I have traded some, got some in trade, and have some recent new additions. I'll try to update it soon and e-mail you a copy of it. I still need to order and add the Sopraphino ;)
