laying out cards to look at artwork???

Does anyone else sit down and do spreads with different decks, (without asking a question) just so you can see the artwork laid out???? LOL
Every once in a while I like to pull out 3 or 4 decks, lay them out in a spread and oh and ah over them!!! :D Not at the same time like doing a comparison, but do one spread, put that deck away. Pull out another one, do a spread, put that deck away...
I'm not really doing any readings, just looking at the pretty pictures!! LOL And while I don't get any true answers (because I'm not asking questions :) ) I always seem to get something out of it.
Does anyone else do this, or am I just the lone weirdo??? LOL

Hm? What? *sticks the last couple of decks that were just laid out back into their bags* Weirdo? No.... Never.... :D;)})

I don't lay them out, but I do sometimes go through the whole deck just to enjoy the artwork. Especially with my Osho Zen, because I really like its artwork and I keep seeing new things in the images.

OK, I’m a weirdo. I sometimes even layout two or three sets to compare the art. I don’t layout all the cards at the same time but all the majors of two or three decks or all the Wands or all the Cups, or…. Does anyone pretend they are teaching tarot classes? I have taught before so I don’t know if this is just something I do to pass the time until I teach another real class or if it is a sign of a wayward mind.

I lay out different decks together too, Raeanne - at least when I can get my sticky paws on someone elses deck to compare to mine! I find it really fascinating to compare individual cards from different decks and see the different slants that different artists have put on them. So I'll sit there, and compare all of the majors... then each of the pentacles... then all the cups...

Can't say I ever teach tarot classes to thin air though - although when I'm studying for exams I do normally end up teaching everything I have to remember to my cat :)

*raising hand*
ahem, i do that sometimes and thought i was alone;)
i even once tried to teach a friend tarot - i thought she would be interested but when she asked me how long it would take to learn i told her the truth - at least a few years to be really good at it, but a few months to get a grip on the meaning and find a system to the cards - and she refused so now she is into numerology instead...
oh, well. my imaginary class always puts forward the most brilliant questions;)
and the cats like to listen in!

Sorry in advance for this - can't help myself. })

Haven't you noticed your cat already knows the material? Poor kitty! :P

Faunabay: Looking at the cards for any reason is a good idea - pretty pictures is positively inspired. :)

I loooooooove leafing through my decks to admire the artwork. I think it is this admiration that drew me to them in the first place.

Weird, I don't think so. You're establishing your connection to your decks...how could that possibly be weird?

I can be a little happy child sitting on the flour with my lovely decks laid out around me..... Living in my own little tarotworld:)

Major Tom - LOL! Did I forget to mention that I also bribe her with catnip to write my essays for me?

faunabay  25 May 2002
Oh you all make me feel soooo much better!! LOL -- not that I felt bad, just kind of strange (giggle)
I'm not the only one, Yea!!

I like to sit and shuffle my Spiral, especially on here, and sometimes get sidetracked my the cards. I find cards usually fall out when I'm shuffling then I end up studying the card that's fallen out lol - Actually I see something different on the Spiral everytime I look at it, the colours of the skies, and roses (seems to be many roses in the Spiral both red and white), and yes sometimes I do lay the entire deck out just to admire the artwork lol :)

i've laid out a whole deck to look at the art work before...it's fun!

Kaz  26 May 2002
one of the mean reasons for me to buy a deck is the artwork, soooo , yes, i spread them out and enjoy looking at them.

I also like to go through my decks just for the artwork. Very relaxing and inspiring. Sometimes the thing ends with several ideas for new spreads and then you can see me dash from the sofa, grip the pen and spread book and I scibble it down in a frenzy :D
