Hello,
I have been doing tarot readings for about 5 years now mainly for myself. My question is can one do too many readings i.e over do it. I do a a reading once a week ?
PS great site you have here.

I think the only way one can overdo it with readings is if they drain you.... I find readings drain me quite a bit, esp. those for others... So, if I do too many in a week, I need plenty of sleep!
Otherwise, I don't think they can affect how well you read the cards, or how well the deck works...
Also, I don't believe we have met, so welcome to Aeclectic!

Adrian: I see no problem--unless you are asking the same question over & over, which might make for some garbled readings! I do self-readings less often but that is my preference.
I try to work things out without the cards & turn to them as a sort of last resort; or for an overview. When I need to do a reading, sometimes my daily cards will tell me. There may be a number of cards that result instead of the usual one or two. Any card that literally jumps out I pay attention to & may follow up with a throw.
As Kiama indicated, doing readings can be draining. There is an exchange of energy in return for "information".
There is no hard & fast rule. For many of us on the forums, Tarot is a significant part of our daily lives. Achieving a balance with any activity is one of trial & error; part of the life experiences.

Thanks for the answers. It does not drain me so I suppose no harm being done then. With regards to the same question well the last two weeks it has been the same question and the same answers keep coming up, but I am not convinced about this answer. I used the same spread both times.
No we have not met Kiama I am new here, thanks for the welcome.

one reading a week seems quite moderate to me!
i go through phases when i feel like i can't put the deck down... one question leads to another, and another. i beg people to let me read for them. i sit in public playing with the cards hoping strangers will approach and ask for readings. i read about silly questions, and no question at all. finally i get stern with myself and go out to enjoy the sunshine.
