Hi Everybody! Thanks so much for the nice welcome! There's so much I want to talk about. What I'd really like to know is, how people do their readings. Do you go by symbols, or is it more of a feeling you get? The way I read is strictly by the thoughts I "hear". It's great for reading for myself, but boy, sometimes the truth hurts! Does anyone else read this way? I'd love to hear your thoughts on how you started. Kind Regards, Starcrow

Hi. Me again. I was wondering what people think about charging for readings? I know it's probably been discussed a million times, but I'm curious. I honestly have never charged, I guess I don't feel comfortable doing that, but on the other hand, I know people need to make a living, and are charging for their time. You're going to find me asking lots of questions! (smile)

Hi, starcrow.
I just began learning to read cards back this past July. I have been learning to read with cards meanings, symbolism, and intuition...a combination of those.
As far as charging for readings...
I haven't done so. I'm still in the learning and practicing stage since my new teaching assignment at school demanded a lot of my "spare" time this year. Personally, I feel it's a personal choice whether or not someone charges for their readings. Some people feel strongly one way or the other, and I feel that they should do what they think is right for them.

Hi,
I just had a reading with a person with your ability...It was a wonderful, scary (because she "found" me), and painfully truthful..(YES painful or not people need the truth)
this person charges $20 for a 45 min. session. I know others are much higher and I was greatful for the price break
Good luck and always trust yourself.

Readers at the psychic fairs in the Midwest get $20 for 15 minutes--but they give half to the show organizers at the end of the day.
When they're at the outdoor festivals, the readers get to keep what they make (after paying a 'booth fee' but they charge $30 for 30 minutes.
East & West Coast may charge higher, the cost of living there is higher usually. As for individual tarot readers in the phone book, they don't list their prices in the phone book & I've never called them, but I figure they charge by the hour, and not below $30 either.

You are providing a valuable service, so you should definitely charge for the service. People take it more seriously if they pay for it.
When I do casual readings (i.e. set up a table at the local coffee shop and take all comers), my fee is "a bill" and I leave it totally up to the customer to determine what that means. It can be a $1 bill, a $5 bill, $10, $20 or so on. I don't let them pay until after they've received their reading. You get the occasional cheapskate, but more people tend to pay with larger bills when I use this method.
For formal reading appointments, I charge $50 an hour. For regular customers, it's still $50, but I'll often go up to 2 hours if necessary and do a variety of spreads.
