Money & Work Spreads?

Thread originally posted on the Aeclectic Tarot Forum on 20 Jun 2002, and now archived in the Forum Library.

Greetings all. :)
I would like to have your suggestions for money & work spreads. I know I know, there are lots of threads on spreads (*l* cool rhyme...), but I only want those concerning the areas mentioned above. Out of laziness I don't read through the threads again, or browse my collection. :D })

So, give me your best. Please don't recommend any you haven't tried yourself. I'm interested in the ones you have experience with.

Hm, I sound really demanding here, don't I?? :D

Aeonx (Just how should I pronounce that oh blessed “Mistress of the Vowels?”), if we were together right now, I would prepare myself to have something thrown at me. Most likely a foodstuff.

A Money and Work spread? A standard 5-card horseshoe works just fine.
The question is the root.

Clothing issues require spreads on threads.

On the other hand should you have a money question? Go to an expert, or PM me.

Dear Umbrae. :*
I would never throw foodstuff at you! Maybe something else, but I'm too Virgo to throw yucky things around the room! *lol*

I've never really liked Horseshoe-spreads. So you have to come up with something else. :D I'll PM you.

BTW, do you like my new sig? Dedicated all to you my friend!

My handle: 'aeonx' is pronounced something like 'ionx'. It's a combination of 'aeon' and 'x'. I'm an aeon, and an x of aeon. If that makes any sense!! :D

You know, I've had the best luck using the good old Celtic Cross and, when in doubt, Rachel Pollack's Work Cycle for clarification. It requires careful formulation of the question - "Will I get the job I just interviewed for?" doesn't usually work as well as "Please discuss the job interview I just had" or that old standby which Tarot seems to like to use for the first question, "Tell me what you want me to know." That one out of the way, I can go on to pose my question.
Then again, I have the sense that I work with an entity very much outside myself when I read. (It has a highly-developed sense of humor, for one thing, and makes puns I wouldn't be caught dead with.) I'm not prepared to define it, but I'll go so far as to say that while each deck has its "flavor" these seem to be "moods" of the entity, rather than entities in their own right.
If I were reading for the result of a job interview I would look very hard at the "Others" and "House" positions - they will describe your co-workers and the corporate culture. "Self" will deal with how you fit in with the worksite.
As for money - if your grasp of astrology is good, try a wheel spread. You'll be looking at houses two and eight. If you work for money, look at the sixth house and the tenth; if you gamble try the fifth and eleventh.
If you're more comfortable with the Celtic Cross Possibilities, Probabilities, Self, Others, and Outcome will be crucial. (Don't forget to check out "Hopes and Fears" to see if you're telling yourself bad things you really don't need to listen to.) Tell you what, the best overall book I've seen so far is written by a Jungian analyst, Anthony Louis, uses the Robin Wood deck for its illos, and is titled (pause while Lin runs downstairs to get book) "Tarot Plain and Simple." I also like Rachel Pollack's "78 Degrees of Wisdom" (could you tell) and Gail Fairfield's "Choice Centered Tarot."
Best wishes

Hmmmm…Aeonx (which inside my own head I will always pronouce ‘ay-nex’ (accent on the X)).
I guess I shall always be a boring stick in the mud. I have never been a real spread person.
Like when I do a 14-Card overall general reading. I can lay out those 14 cards any way I choose, or simply stack them (handy on airplanes). I am boring.
I call my 5 and 7 position spreads horseshoes, but they get laid out in straight lines (usually).
But here is the thing. For me, if a spread is a relationship spread (for a woman), I use the VR.
For a Job issue, I use Russian St Pete’s.
I relate to those decks with those issues.
But that is me. The spread is not as important as the deck; and the deck’s relevance is only based on me.
Now Greenelin brought up some great points.
To which I could only add this; always try to get a persons birth date. Figure out what numerological year they are in. Then when they ask about money or work, think on where they are in their life, where they came from…you can help them frame a more significant question about money or work for the reading.

Oh, Umbrae, I like you even if you are a boring stick in the mud! :* *l*

Thanks for the input, all! :)
