does anyone know of a decent morphing program? i'm thinking of eventually creating a deck where a reading morphs from one card to another. bit of a strange idea perhaps, but it may work well...

Steve I know nothing about this, but it sounds really interesting. Would you mind sharing a little bit more what you mean by morphing one card into another? do you mean as in clicking on the card if you want clarification and the card morphs into the clarification card?

i don't understand your morphing concept. is it like a puzzle, forms flowing from one card to another, or colors blurring and flowing ???
morphing sounds like something with shapes.....

here's what i mean by morphing the cards:
you layout a reading. for the most part we go from card 1 to card 2 to card 3.... for interpretation. so we are going from one image to another.
if i morph the cards i start with card 1 and the image transforms into card 2. this image of card 2 transforms into card 3...
think of the werewolf movies where the man becomes the beast-- that's a morph.
in a way, instead of a slide show (one card at a time), i have a movie of sorts which represents the reading, one step transforming into another.
i hope this clears up any questions. as to it"s usability, that's another question :)

what you describe is something like what happens in the shapeshifter deck in just 1 card. you want to do the same process "shifting" morphing over many cards.....
well, i think that's a hard concept to follow, as all cards can neighbor all others.
if you look for software to do computergraphics, i can recommand photoshop or fireworks. if you want 3d it depends on what kind of art you focus on, people, landscapes etc....
if you start of with the scans of the cards, i'd say have a look at photoshop first.
i hope this answered your question...

You mean a slide-show program?? How about Microsoft PowerPoint, or Corel Presentation?

yes, i've got photoshop, but it doesn't have the capabilities that i'm looking for.
no, i'm not trying to do a slide show. what i meant was that a reading can be compared to a slide show, one card at a time.
thanks for the feedback

Hey Steve,
This sounds really interesting. Do you mean that your deck will be one that is viewed on the computer or an actual deck you can shuffle and deal?
Morphing makes me think of the Michael Jackson 'Black and White' film clip where the peoples faces morphed into a different persons face and Michael Jackson morphed into a panther...
Anything like what you want to achieve?

kayne--
it would have to be a computer image-- though you could use any scannable deck. i'd like to make the order programable so one could take a physical reading and run it through morphing.
the 'black and white' clip you mention is exactly what i want to do. a series of cards morphing one to another through a reading.

I have downloaded this free program that makes images morph into each other and is pretty good... I got it from http://www.anfyteam.com/ Perhaps it is what you are looking for? *Beware, lot's of irritating pop-ups come up when you go to this site...
Hope this helps?

kayne--
that package looks real good, i'll have to give it a try. (and it seems to have a lot more than just morphs) thanks

Hi steve,
I remember having seen a site with a sacred rose screensaver in which one card transformed into another. My computer did not want to accept this one so I don't know where this site is :( but the effects looked pretty cool.

Now that I understand what you are trying to do more fully that does sound quite neat. I have a question for you though, when I read the cards I find it very helpful to look at all of my cards together as well as individually. If the cards morph would you be able to include a feature that if the person using the deck wanted to they could first watch the cards morph and then hit a button where they could view all 3 cards together?

Hi, all!
Jasc Software has an Animation Program that does morphing. I've used it a little and it seems to do a nice job.
Great idea, StevePolsz!
Peace,
