I am just wondering how many of you all here are from the UK or Europe?????
This is a wonderful place ....but I am a person who likes to talk to people in "real time" too.
I was wondering what other groups you may be in and if there are any out there based in the Uk?
Noone is ever in chat here and it would be so nice to have chats for Uk time as most groups are chating when it's the middle of the night here!
Please don't get the wrong impression here I love this forum and am learning loads from everyone.
I just have this feeling that if I found somewhere to chat about things I might get on better.
I'l shut up now i'm rambbling!..lol!

Hi Angeline,
I'm in the UK too, so if you want to chat UK time I sometimes can. Although my pc is playing up a bit at the moment, so no guarantees :(
I see that although we're both UK, we're not at all near each other. I wonder if there are any other northerners around that you could even meet irl.
All the best,
FH

HI, just joined.
having terrible problems with my tarot readings. I got interested in learning about 3 years ago as I found a tarot deck that really moved me. (I loved the artwork)
But I can't do readings! I find it difficult to explain.
I have a couple of books which I refer to but I still can't remember what each card means and how to interpret it.
I sound so thick, and I know it's about feeling each card's meaning personally, but I can't seem to tune into it.
How do you learn it?
I just want to be able to do a reading for myself that is in someway accurate......do you know what I mean?
well, that's enough babble for now....hopefully speak to you soon.

Hi mel, welcome to the forum!
Do you know Joan Bunning's website, Learning the Tarot? It contains an online course with some good exercises. It helped me get started with tarot.
Just out of curiosity: which deck are you using? And which books?

Hi mel :)
It seems to take time to make readings work, but you've come to the right place for lots of friendly support while you're learning :)
I second the advice from tarotlady, I found Joan Bunnings course helpful.
Also, I wouldn't be in any hurry, just enjoy the ride.
I've read various books, done loads of 'practice readings' (ie in the privacy of my room and not shared with others) for all and sundry, using the book to look up every single card. I've played games with the cards and read for my cat with the help of my son. It's gradually coming together for me, although I don't see myself reading for others, only for myself.
Unlike many others on this board, I find a certain playfulness in using the cards gives me the best results. I'm sure you'll find what works best for you :)
All the best,
FH

I'm in the UK too - East Anglia.
I do readings for people using the deck's lwb - I plead a bad memory and a head too stuffed with junk to shoe-horn anything else in there! None of my querents seem to mind, although the book that goes with my Celtic deck has been thumbed through so often that some of its pages are falling out! Love that deck - it has a way of unearthing everyones' secrets!

Hi Angeline and all the other newcomers from UK,
Hearty welcome to you all from catlin from Germany.
Hope you enjoy these forums as much as we all do. I cannot take part in chats as I can only use a computer at work, I still do not have one myself.

Hi Tarotlady and Fairyhedgehog.....
thankyou for replying to my dilema.
As regards to my tarot deck, I'm using "the rider waite" to learn with and "lo scarabeo antico" to be inspired from.
The one book that I've found helpful with meanings and descriptions unfortunately has an unknown author. It's called guide to the tarot and is published by geddes and grosset in Scotland. The other book that I recently bought is called How to read the tarot...the key word system, by Sylvia abraham who seems to be from the US. I found this book quite confusing.
Even the key to the tarot book which I got with my rider waite deck....is difficult to decipher.
well, I'll look at joan Bunnings course and see what happens....will let you know...
Thanx.

Hi tabby cat......
what you said in your post....is just my sentiments exactly. My head is also crammed with too much junk.....
l o l ....
it's nice to read someone elses feelings that you can completely empathise with......
I also apreciate the advice on keeping a book by my side while reading......not that I've done readings for anyone else...but something to bear in mind for when I progress.

Hi,
for the person that can't remember the meanings...you're not alone!!! I too have been studying, but not forcing the issue. If I don't feel like 'playing' with the cards one day, then I don't. I'm starting to guess what the cards mean at the moment, have had some good guesses and waaaaaay off guesses!
The book am learning with so far is the Idiots guide to the tarot and fortune telling..it's got loads of excercises in it, and is quite funny too. i find it very easy to read and understand. No flowery words either. If you want to sneak a peek at the card meanings, they encourage it. I haven't done the tarot journal as it isn't really practical to do so for me, but I do try to do at least one reading a day...
Good Luck My dear!
