What is if there is any.....the difference between divination and readings with tarot? I'm feeling a bit confused on this. Thanks. Angeline

Tarot can be used for divination, and it can be used for much more than that as well. Tarot can be used to read past present and future, physical and mental, action and feeling. Meditation one one card can dig deep into one's pysche. They can be used representatively in spells and in daily life, you can even play games with Tarot cards. Divination, reading the possible futures, on only one things that can be done w/ it, though it's what's most comonly thought of outside the little world of Tarot.

divination is a broad term. reading tarot is just one of many methods of divination. per websters; divination 1 the act or practice of trying to foretell the future or explore the unknown by occult means 2 a prophecy; augury 3 a successful guess or intuitive perception

Hi Angeline, Divination is the art of discovering the unknown (past, present, or future) by interpreting random patterns or symbols through the use of tools such as cards, stones, numbers, planets and stars, smoke, mirror, crystals, molten wax, fire, water, etc. There are hundreds of techniques for divination. Some of the most common methods are: Astrology, Cartomancy, Geomancy, Numerology, Oneiromancy, Palmistry, Pyromancy, Scrying, Theomancy... and the list goes on. :D Reading the Tarot is one form of divination. However, like Sorceress_Jade said, divination is not the only function of the Tarot. It can be used as an aid in meditation and in esoteric practices such as Astrology, Numerology, and Qabala. Thanks, catboxer. :) Penang? Were you referring to my location? I'm currently on an island in the Philippines... but moving to another continent this year. Dayum! I know I'll miss the white beaches and the great food! :D
