I was looking at a web site recently, and the author made a comment about some people not wanting to work with male energies.
I believe there are energy forces out there, and those energies have an effect on our lives.
I categorize those energies as being desirable or undesirable, positive or negative or yin and yang. Whatever name you ascribe to it, I believe in these opposing forces.
Should male and female energies be added to my list? Are energies imbued with hormonal or gender qualities?
Are there other forms of metaphysical energy out there that I'm missing?

Hm, I think that everywhere there are 2 forces which have to be taken into consideration: animus and anima, yin and yang, male and female, light and dark, day and night, sun and moon, etc.
I think it is not right to exclude one as everything should be in balance.

The culture I grew up with always stated...
Yin = female and yan = male...
Yin = shadow and yan = light...
So I guess yin and yan covers everything then... :)

Personally I feel that the symbolism of yin and yang is meant to refer to the concept of the interrelatedness of duality, but is not meant to suggest that all dualities are equivalent. In other words, light and dark are a duality, as are good and evil, but this doesn't mean that light equals good and dark equals evil.
I think it's a little dangerous to apply the yin/yang concept to male and female, because it might lead some people to mistakenly ascribe stereotypical attributes to gender, such as that there's something inherently passive about females and inherently active about males, which of course is not true.

I'm with Lee. When most authories are referring to "male" and "female" energies, they are almost always talking about yan and yin respectfully, any way. I distance myself from using the male-female dichotomy when talking about energy and stick to yan-yin or dynamic-receptive almost exclusively.

I definitely relate to there being male and female energies, and many other energies as well. Everthing has it's own specific frequency, it's vibe. Male and female energy is like that too. Everyone's energy is different, but I find there's a distinct quality to male energy. I personally work very well with it. When it's flowing and not strangled or blocked, the feeling of balanced polarities is the most incredible thing in the world. Utilizing the balance and flow between polarities is what sex magick is all about. And that's why it's so powerful.
