Hi Everyone. I was just thinking about tarot today (suprise, suprise!) And came to this conclusion: Sometimes I just HAVE to give myself a reading or I'll just DIE! And other times I just don't want to do any readings. (hence the header "The Urge...Or Not) SO I was thinking, Does this happen to anyone else? Please share, like all good little boys and girls! that's it now! Give Mckayla the barbie Nikki! good girl! (sorry couldn't resist!)

Hey, Sam!
Yes, sometimes I just get the urge for a reading. One time one of my decks had the urge for a reading. ;) I had all my decks in a pile (this was back when I had about 8 decks) on the bed. I left the room and when I came back, my Morgan-Greer was a few inches away from all the other decks. So I said, "Hmmmm...have something to say to me?" I went and did a CC spread and got a fantastic reading...spot on! Since I was just a couple of months into learning, I was very encouraged, inspired, and energized by this.

hey there sam--
my basic 'need' is to pick up a deck and shuffle. no thought in mind, just shuffle. it's a security thing, i think-- being in touch secure. passive security.
sometimes i'll have a card jump out. i'll consider that my card of the day. sometimes the deck decides it wants to talk-- mind you, i don't decide; rather it is decided. again, all passive. i don't move towards anything, i get directed.
then there are times i consciously decide. active motion here, and the 'i' that i am does the directing.
guess you can say i either go cup or sword...

Hi Sam,
For me, sometimes I have the urge that I want to get close to my card, look at them, talk to them and feel them in my hand. The urge of doing myself a reading usually comes when I am facing a situation that I need some guidance. Yes, there are times that I just don't want to do any reading, just want to have a rest. I am in this stage lately, still I like to say hi to my decks everyday.

My Osho Zen deck has been calling me the last few days. I shuffled and drew a card for the day, but I know there is more it wants to tell me, however, I don't really have a question to ask it at the moment..... perhaps I should just ask it 'what do you want to tell me?' and draw a few cards.
Cheers
Kath

Yeah, I have the habit of just shuffling the deck, it's almost meditative but it's more or less like you describe--it gives me a sense of security and it helps me bond with the deck...sometimes it leads to a reading othertimes it doesn't.

Usually I don't have an urge to read or not read, I'm pretty casual about it most of the time. However, once in awhile I'll just get the urge really strongly, I've even been running out the door, nearly late for work, and will run back and do a quick three card reading, for no reason I can see.

Yes. Sometimes the pull is strong and other times I have no urge at all. I read when I want to, though.

Kath--that might be a good idea...just ask what they want to tell you..i figure they will keep bugging you until you do something with them..
