Weird Tarot stories

I'd like to tell all of you a strange story and ask your opinions. Or maybe you'd like to tell your own freaky thing. We all have lots of them. Anyway, here is mine.

A couple of years ago a friend came and fixed something on my car and I wanted to thank him with free beer or something but he said he'd settle for a reading. I did one but it was kind of bland so I shuffled and dealt again. This second reading was off the charts for weird. It hinted at some disaster befalling and had an odd subtext that the disaster wasn't on purpose. I thought 'huh?'. So I dealt again and this time the cards echoed the first reading. I didn't think anything about it until he left and I turned on the TV and saw to my horror that the instant I was reading his cards, that plane was exploding over the water in New York. All of a sudden the reading made sense. Even though there were initial reports of a missle fired at the plane I knew that didn't happen. According to the cards the explosion was caused by some kind of negligance but not on purpose - sort of like negligance done out of anger. Well, needless to say, I didn't touch my cards for months.
What do you guys think? Do we pick up things when we're receptive no matter how far away they are? And if so, why didn't anybody pick up 9/11?

I think a number of people did pick up 9/11 but didnt realise what it was saying til after, Im sure the readings were very odd and people probably interpreted them as their personal life until 9/11 happened, then they can go back and say oh wait it wasnt about me at all. I think someone here mentioned they kept getting the tower in their reading all last year all the way up to February this year, the 6 month Anniversay when they had the light towers.

I believe the plane your are talking about is the one that had a group of High School students from a town fairly near where i live on it, they were going to Europe as is offered to most high school students jr/sr year. They all died, still a lot of hurt in their community over it.

Hi Daria, I hope you don't mind, I've moved your thread to the Talking Tarot section. It's not meant as an editorial comment at all, I think you raise some very interesting issues, and I look forward to reading the responses. It's just that it's more a Talking Tarot sort of topic, rather than Tarot Decks, which is more for discussion of particular decks.

Welcome to Aeclectic, by the way, we're very glad to have you. :)

thanks, Lee! As soon as I started that thread I realized I put it in the wrong place. Thanks for fixing it for me.

I guess it's a good point that people got weird readings and didn't realize it was 9/11. Who would've believed it even if they had interpreted it correctly?

Hello Daria, and welcome.

Most folks around here know that I was at WTC2 on 9-11. I listened to the voice in my head that screamed it was time to go outside for a cigarette. I stepped out of the building as the first plane hit.

Prior to 9/11, my readings were getting increasingly weird. Death, doom, dismay, tragedy, and change. Lots of change. Towers, Death, Hermet, Swords.

Just before I left for New York, my Rune readings also went off the charts.

All I knew is that I was going to come back from New York very different, changed.

The cards were right.

That day I didn't have any tarot experiences, but I did have a few psychic type experiences. Visions....songs in my head that I hadn't heard in years and didn't make any sense...until it was too late.

i didn't use tarot that week. for some reason i just know to stay away from it.

the day before i recorded strange dreams in my on-line journal. about men in black suits jumping tall buildings and a rain of papers following them. they all leaped silently, with determination, out of nescessity.

about three minutes after the plane hit the first tower i turned on my TV in my room in sweden and there it was.
and then they started to jump.

but to have been there...
i can only imagine to horror of seeing those scenes take place right over your head.

If there's one thing I've learned it's to pay attention to hunches and those odd signals that the subconscious gets. I was due to fly to Calif on Sept 1st and I didn't want to go but I had to. I'd had this terrible dream about a plane falling out of the sky on my house. I told my writing group about it and then forgot it - until the 11th. I don't like to fly normally but that trip on the 1st had me so frightened that if the plane did a little dip I'd almost die of fear. After the 11th, the pressure and fear was gone. I think. I haven't tried to get on a plane again.

I don't think I could go to ground zero like people have been doing. I bet that spot is filled with grief. It must feel like the same cloud of sadness that surrounds the Vietnam Memorial in DC.

My hunches and saved me from many a traffic accident too. You know, that feeling that you should watch a particular car and that's the one that does something unexpected but since you were watching it you were prepared?

Although it doesn't really involve Tarot, 9/11 was 'forseen" by my non-psychic stepdad almost 1 year to the day prior to 9/11. He *may* be suffering from dementia - we still don't really know - anyway in the late summer/early fall of 2000, he was hospitalized and almost catonic. He'd keep mumbling that disaster was happening and that he saw planes crashing into buildings and people falling out of windows and stuff. We, of course, thought he was hallucinating.

And then it all happened one year later...my stepdad would not watch the TV. He told me he'd already seen it and he didn't need to relive it.

Sometimes I wonder if mental illness doesn't leave the mind open to other things that get blocked when one is well.
