I've been offering free readings on my website for a while now, to practise doing readings for others. Seeing that I'm still a beginner I don't think it's right to ask for payment for my readings, not just yet anyway. However, I do ask people for a donation if they are satisfied with the reading.
Up until now, most people I did a reading for couldn't even be bothered to say thank you, so I was really surprised when today I got a payment through Paypal. The woman who sent me the money had promised to send it to me, but I had completely forgotten about it, I was already very pleased with the feedback she had given me.
So I'm really chuffed now, having earned my first money as a tarot reader!! :D :)

Well good for you. Congratulations!
I am a little surprised that most did not even thank you though. :(

Congratulations, pro-girl!
Never mind the inconsiderate ones who can't even be bothered to value your time and effort, but enjoy all the good vibes you get from the guys who realize how to appreciate it...
Keep it up!
Jenny :)

Especially since the whole idea was to learn from doing these readings; I won't learn anything if I don't get any feedback... And personally I think it's only polite to say thank you when somebody has done a reading for you. I guess it just shows what has been discussed on this forum before: that some people don't really value something that is for free.
But the good thing is that it made me appreciate this one donation even more! :)

ah, to freely give of your gift to help others, or to ask for payment? can't begin to tell you my struggles over that one!
we've had several threads over the payment questions. one thing that has been said over and over on the 'payment' side, is that when they pay, they take it seriously.
i'm building a website. i hope to start my own tarot reading business soon. i am going to charge. i won't be cheap. hee hee, i'm worth it.
in the meantime, i've begun accepting 'payments' for my journeys and readings. every one has been a success. every client has been happy. i know that they are unlikely to forget my reading or journey and get another 'freebie' somewhere else tomorrow. they were a part of this one. they participated by an exchange. my reading has value.
so enough of my ranting and rambling, lol
congratulations tarotlady! you got payed and you deserved it!

Zorya, I can personally attest as well, that you do wonderful work! Thank you for everything you have done for me, and congratulations to Tarotlady for having the courage to go out and make the dream real! There are a lot of rude folks out there, who won't even grant the common courtesy of a simple "Thank You". But there will be a lot of people hitting your site, and the nice and appreciative ones will balance out the not so nice rude ones. Good Luck! You have inspired me to get MY site up and running!

** applauds Tarotlady **
One of the few valuable experiences I learned through my time as a PRN phone read was that one truly appreciative client can give us the perseverence to get through a few scum bags, and they former are the kind of people we're doing it all for any way.

Tarotlady: 'Tis only fair to expect compensation for one's time & effort--after all, one does not expect to avail of goods or services without some type of payment or exchange. Many take what is given freely for granted; do not understand that what is given freely does not mean it has no value or no validity. The same resources are invested in a reading, whether 'tis a freebie or for payment. It is important to show that one values one's resources & to charge accordingly (therefore, I charge for the services I offer).
